More than 2,000 candidates taking the entrance exam to Vinh University High School for the Gifted have begun completing procedures.

This morning, Vinh University High School for the Gifted began the procedures and dissemination of the exam regulations to candidates. According to the regulations, candidates taking the entrance exam are allowed to bring pens, pencils, compasses, erasers, rulers, calculators without text editing functions and without memory cards; Audio and video recorders only have the function of recording information but cannot transmit information and cannot receive live audio and video signals without supporting equipment.

Informing the candidates about the exam regulations, the invigilators also specifically reminded the candidates that they are absolutely not allowed to bring their phones into the exam room - a common mistake that has caused many candidates to be cited in recent exams. Candidates are also absolutely not allowed to bring communication devices or devices that contain information that can be used to cheat during the exam and the grading process.

Entering this exam, many candidates also expressed their nervousness and anxiety. This candidate also shared that, although he prepared 50/50 mentally, all candidates still feel pressured before each exam. Therefore, in addition to an official exam to enter public grade 10, he registered to take exams at both specialized schools in the province to increase his chances of being admitted.

Meanwhile, candidate Nguyen Tran Thanh Binh - a student at Hung Chinh Secondary School (Vinh City) created a comfortable mindset for himself. He himself only registered for one specialized school, because he thought that his own ability was suitable for the criteria of Vinh University High School for the Gifted: In the 10th grade entrance exam, he registered for NV1 at Huynh Thuc Khang High School and was quite confident in his test. He thought he could get 26 - 27 points. Therefore, in this specialized exam, he did not have too much pressure. He hoped that he would stay calm and confident to maintain his performance like the previous exam.

According to Vinh University, for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year, the school has more than 2,200 applications. Of these, 2,066 applications are for the specialized program and 227 applications are for the high-quality program.

In the specialized system, the English specialized class has the largest number of candidates registered for the exam, with 674 candidates. In the Math specialized class, there are 350 candidates registered for the exam. In the remaining specialized classes, the Physics class has 174 candidates registered for the exam, the Chemistry specialized class has 199 candidates, the Biology specialized class has 117 candidates, the IT specialized class has 180 candidates (of which, there are 91 candidates taking the Math exam but registered for the IT specialized class) and the Literature specialized class has 372 candidates.

Previously, according to the school's plan, this year,Vinh University High School for the Gifted350 students are recruited for specialized classes: Mathematics, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, English. Each specialized class has 35 students. The specialized Math class is expected to have 70 students and the specialized English class has 105 students. In addition, the school recruits 4 high-quality classes with 120 students.

Candidates taking the specialized exam will take the base score from the 10th grade entrance exam + priority points (if any). In addition, candidates will have to take 1 specialized subject, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature in essay format; English in essay, multiple choice and listening comprehension format.

This afternoon, candidates will begin taking the specialized exam with 150 minutes for each specialized subject.
