More than 99% of Nghe An people are literate.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of November 9, the Steering Committee for Illiteracy Prevention - Universal Education & Building a Learning Society of Nghe An province held a meeting to evaluate the results of activities in the period 2012 - 2015. According to the report of the Steering Committee for Illiteracy Prevention of the province, up to this point, more than 99% of the people in the province are literate.
Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting. Also attending were leaders of the Department of Education and Training, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Planning and Investment and a number of related departments and agencies.

According to the report of the Department of Education and Training, each year the province mobilizes and organizes 1,000 - 1,200 students to participate in illiteracy eradication and nearly 1,000 students to participate in secondary school supplementary education. Thanks to that, after 3 years of implementing the project to build a learning society in Nghe An in the period of 2012 - 2020, the literacy rate of people aged 15 - 35 reached 99.4%; 100% of communes, wards and towns met the standards of eliminating illiteracy - universalizing primary education. In addition, the work of universalizing education has also achieved many outstanding results.

Up to now, 95.2% of communes, wards and towns have been recognized as meeting the standards of universal education for 5-year-old children; 100% of communes, wards and towns have achieved universal primary education and 99.8% of communes, wards and towns have achieved universal lower secondary education. The work of building a learning society has received attention and each year about 1.5 million people study specialized subjects, improving their professional skills and labor skills.

At the meeting, delegates gave many comments on the draft report and pointed out the limitations that need to be overcome so that the Department of Education and Training can complete the report before reviewing the 3-year implementation. Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh requested that in the coming time, the Provincial Steering Committee for Illiteracy Prevention - Universal Education and Building a Learning Society should clarify the roles of units in performing the tasks, in conjunction with the responsibilities of each sector and each locality.
Strengthening inspection, supervision and implementation of projects, it is necessary to pay attention to preventing re-illiteracy and universalizing preschool education for 5-year-olds. It is necessary to focus on building a learning society, paying attention to vocational training and skills for people to "anticipate" the integration trend.
