(Baonghean) - Tan Ky is effectively exploiting its potential and advantages in economic development. The local agricultural picture has improved a lot from production to productivity and quality, in which the projects on livestock and cultivation stand out.

Continue restructuring the agricultural sector

In the period of 2015 - 2020, Tan Ky district has implemented 3 economic development projects, all of which have achieved and exceeded the plan: Livestock development project; promoting the application of science and technology in agricultural production and the project to develop high-income crops. Accordingly, the District People's Committee proposed that the District Party Committee continue to issue a resolution on restructuring the agricultural sector in the period of 2020 - 2025.

The highlight is that the livestock development project is assessed to have made a clear change. From mostly raising local yellow cows, the total herd of Laisind cows now also exceeds the annual plan target, from 11.46 - 13%/year. Notably, in the district, 3 livestock cooperatives have been established in 3 communes: Nghia Dong, Nghia Thai, Tan Phu and are assessed to meet VietGAP standards. This is a new direction in line with the current trend.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Huong - Director of Len Voi Agricultural Cooperative in Tan Phu Commune, said: Although the Cooperative was newly established, thanks to the application of fattening cattle with imported cattle breeds, the economic efficiency is much higher than that of local yellow cattle raising households before. Because the Cooperative's beef products have met VietGAP standards, the products have been purchased by enterprises, which is a factor motivating members to promote cattle farming.

Sugarcane is the main crop of Tan Ky district. To increase sugarcane productivity for people, the district has gradually eliminated old, ineffective sugarcane varieties and replaced them with new, suitable varieties for high yield and good quality such as KK2, KK3, Viet Duong, LK-9211... Up to now, the sugarcane growing area with new varieties is 3,705 hectares/total standing sugarcane area of 4,485 hectares, reaching 82.6%, an increase of 20% compared to before implementing the project.

Along with the application of new varieties in production, sugarcane production models have been built focusing on applying high technology, implementing synchronous mechanization from land preparation to planting, care, harvesting... with a total area of over 1,000 hectares for high economic efficiency of 60-70 million VND/ha compared to the general average of only 45-48 million VND/ha.
Ms. Dang Thi Tinh in Xuan Son hamlet, Nghia Hoan commune said that her family has 3 hectares of concentrated sugarcane. Thanks to the application of mechanization from land preparation to care and harvesting, the annual sugarcane yield reaches 90 - 100 tons/ha. From this crushing season, the factory has brought sugarcane harvesting machines to serve the people, so sugarcane growers no longer have to worry about the hard work of harvesting by human power as before.

Building and replicating the rice production model using improved methods (SRI) in many communes in the district and by the 2019 Spring crop, 1,152 hectares have been applied and achieved high economic efficiency, in which the spring rice yield reached 74 quintals/ha, compared to the average of only 65 quintals/ha.

Building a sugarcane growing area applying high technology reaching 1001 ha/500 ha of the plan, in the communes of Tan Xuan, Giai Xuan, Nghia Hoan, Tan Long, Nghia Dong, Ky Son, Nghia Phuc, Dong Van, Tien Ky... Up to now, the district has 383 agricultural machines of all kinds, meeting the needs of farmers from land preparation, care and harvesting of agricultural products.
