Grandmother prosecuted for murdering 20-day-old grandchild

Thanh Hoa police have just issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Ms. Pham Thi Xuan, the suspect in the murder of a baby over 20 days old.

According to Colonel Le Trung Hieu - Chief of Staff and Spokesperson of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, based on collected evidence, on December 6, the Investigation Police Agency of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police issued Decision to prosecute criminal case No. 72 and Decision to prosecute defendant No. 44 against Ms. Pham Thi Xuan for murder under Article 93 of the Penal Code.

Previously, as reported, at around 6:40 p.m. on November 25, at the house of Mr. Le Huu Thuan (born in 1980) and his wife Pham Thi Thanh Huyen (born in 1979) in Quarter 1, Bac Son Ward, Bim Son Town, Ms. Pham Thi Xuan (Mr. Thuan's mother) said that while she was holding her 20-day-old granddaughter, the child of Mr. Thuan and his wife, suddenly 2 subjects (1 male, 1 female) on a scooter, their faces covered, broke into the house, held a knife to control and then robbed the baby.

Thanh Hoa Provincial Police immediately began investigating and deployed forces to search for the child's whereabouts.

On the afternoon of November 27, Ms. Duong Thi Thom (residing in Ba Dinh Ward, Bim Son Town) went to collect trash and discovered the body of a baby in a sack at the landfill in Dong Son Ward, Bim Son Town. The baby was later confirmed by Mr. Thuan and Ms. Huyen to be the family's newborn daughter, who was just over 20 days old. DNA test results also showed that she was the child of Mr. Thuan and Ms. Huyen.

On November 29, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police had initial information about the case, identifying the suspect who caused the child's death as Mrs. Pham Thi Xuan (the child's grandmother) and confirmed that there was no kidnapping as Mrs. Xuan's initial statement./.
