On December 6, the Investigation Police Agency of Can Tho City Public Security Department issued decisions to prosecute and temporarily detain Tran Ngoc Nguyen (aka Khoi, 34 years old, residing in My Phu 3 Hamlet, My Thanh Trung Commune, Tam Binh District, Vinh Long Province);

Nguyen Hong Khanh (alias Thai, 34 years old, residing in My Thien hamlet, ward 3, Cao Lanh city, Dong Thap province) and Luong Phan Nhut Huy (22 years old, residing in Nhon An hamlet, Nhon My commune, Cho Moi district, An Giang province) to investigate the act of "Robbery".

According to initial investigation, by impersonating lonely "rich men" to deceive rich ladies, these suspects committed 10 sedation and robbery cases in the following provinces and cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Ca Mau, Tien Giang, Binh Duong and Dong Thap, taking away many valuable assets.

The victim was a coffee shop owner and a bar hostess who wore many gold bracelets and jewelry. The suspects approached and got to know the victim, invited her to go out drinking and singing karaoke, then secretly put sleeping pills in her glass.

Victims who were drugged were taken to motels to have their bracelets, rings, and necklaces cut off. Many victims, while anesthetized, were sexually assaulted by the suspects and then fled.
