Prosecution of the subject who brought pregnant women to China to give birth and sell their babies for 96 million VND
(Baonghean.vn) - Organizing pregnant women to go to China to sell their children, Moong Thi Chanh, residing in Ky Son district (Nghe An), was prosecuted by the authorities and banned from leaving her place of residence.
On June 3, the Investigation Police Agency (Ky Son District Police) announced that the unit has just issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Moong Thi Chanh (also known as Hang, Kho Mu ethnic group, born in 1985), residing in Huoi Tho village, Huu Kiem commune, Ky Son district, for the crime of organizing others to flee abroad. Because the defendant is raising a child under 36 months old, the Investigation Agency is applying a ban on leaving the place of residence.
According to the case file, around April 2018, after a period of working in China, Moong Thi Chanh returned to Vietnam to visit her family. Around the beginning of April 2019, Moong Thi Chanh received a phone call from Moong Pho Toi, residing in Thao Di village, Bao Nam commune, Ky Son district, about a pregnant woman named Cut Me An, residing in the same village, who wanted to go to China.

Then, Moong Thi Chanh called a woman named Phuong, residing in Huoi Phuon village, Keng Du commune, Ky Son district (currently living in China, Chanh met Phuong while working in China) and asked: "Do you take pregnant women to China to sell their children?" Phuong replied "yes, just take the woman over".
After getting An's phone number from Moong Pho Toi, Chanh called An to discuss and agreed that if An agreed to go to China to give birth and sell the child, Chanh would pay An 70 million VND (if it was a girl); 60 million VND (if it was a boy), and An agreed.
A few days later, Chanh took An to Muong Xen town, Ky Son district for a pregnancy check-up. The results showed that the baby in An's belly was a girl. After that, Chanh called Phuong to inform her. Phuong said that if Chanh took someone to China, someone would pick them up at the border. Chanh agreed and asked Cut Mother An to meet at the Xop Nhi bridge in Na Luong 2 village, Huu Kiem commune, Ky Son district. After that, the two took a bus to Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province, and then illegally crossed the border to China.
Here, Phuong picked up the two and took them to Phuong's husband's house on this side. A day later, An's mother went into labor and gave birth right at Phuong's house. The very next day, Phuong sold An's newborn baby to a Chinese woman for 60,000 Chinese yuan (equivalent to more than 180 million Vietnamese Dong). Phuong then gave Chanh 30,000 Chinese yuan (equivalent to 96 million Vietnamese Dong) as previously agreed. The two took a bus back to Vietnam.
At An's house, Chanh gave An 70 million VND, and spent the rest on personal expenses.
