Prosecution of subjects buying and selling endangered and rare king cobras
Vu Tri Le often chooses Ho Chi Minh route and Tan Ky district as a transit and transaction point to purchase endangered and rare animals, then brings them back to sell to those in need.
On July 29, 2024, Tan Ky District Police prosecuted Vu Tri Le (born in 1968), residing in Dien Doai Commune, Dien Chau District (Nghe An) for violating regulations on the protection of endangered and rare animals.
Previously, through the work of grasping the situation, Tan Ky District Police discovered a transportation line,illegal trade of endangered and rare animalsfrom Que Phong and Dien Chau districts through Tan Ky district, so investigation and verification were conducted.

Through professional measures, the district police discovered that Vu Tri Le often went to Que Phong and Ky Son districts to buy rare and endangered animals, then brought them back to sell to those in need. Le chose the Ho Chi Minh route and Tan Ky district as a transit and transaction point.
At 5:00 a.m. on July 13, 2024, in the mountainous forest area of Nghia Dung commune, Tan Ky district, the Criminal Investigation Police Team on criminal, economic, and drug crimes of Tan Ky district police coordinated with Team 373 of the district police to arrest Vu Tri Le for the act of illegally buying and selling endangered, precious, and rare animals.
At the scene, the police seized evidence including 2 king cobras, an endangered and rare species that are prioritized for protection, each snake was over 5m long, weighing nearly 12kg in total, and 1 car.
Currently, 2 snakes have been handed over to the Pu Mat National Park Wildlife Rescue Center.
