Recently, in Tan Ky district, there have been many cases of property theft, causing public outrage, especially motorbike theft, with peaks of 3 cases per week.

After committing the crime, the suspects quickly escaped, leaving no traces at the scene, making the investigation difficult.

Faced with that situation, Tan Ky District Police established Project No. 217 to fight and arrest the subjects. After a period of screening and verification, the Project Board found that a number of subjects emerged, including Doan Van Khanh (residing in Dien Luc hamlet, Ky Son commune, Tan Ky district), who was a drug addict and had many suspicious signs.

Through professional measures, the Special Investigation Committee collected full information and documents reflecting the criminal process of Khanh and his accomplices.

On May 7, the Special Task Force decided to crack the case and arrest 5 related subjects, including: Doan Van Khanh (born in 1991); Ho Huu Luc (born in 1986); Vo Dinh Binh (born in 1995); Le Sy Cuong (born in 1994), all residing in Tan Ky district, and Chu Anh Quyen (born in 1981), residing in Khai Son commune, Anh Son district.

Expanding the investigation, the Task Force arrested Phan Van Than (born in 1992, residing in Hamlet 1, Dai Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh). Than was the subject who participated in the theft of property with the 5 subjects above.

At the police station, this group of young men admitted all their crimes and confessed to having committed 11 thefts in Tan Ky district and neighboring districts such as Yen Thanh, Anh Son...

The tricks of the subjects are to take advantage of loopholes in people's property management, leaving motorbikes in deserted places without locks. They target motorbikes that are easy to break locks such as Sirius, Wave..., then use pliers to break the lock to steal. These subjects also choose times when the homeowner is away, pry open the door to break into the house to steal valuable assets such as money, phones...

This group of young men stole 6 motorbikes, 3 goats, 1 pair of vases and 21 million VND with a total value of about 105 million VND. After committing the crime, they sold the property and then divided the money for personal use.

The subjects also confessed that at around 8:00 p.m. on April 8, 2017, Luc and Khanh drove their motorbikes around Tan Ky town to see if anyone was careless enough to steal a motorbike. At around 1:00 a.m. on April 9, when passing Tan Ky District General Hospital, they discovered a motorbike parked in the hospital garage.

Seeing that no one was around, Khanh stood guard while Luc used a crowbar to break the motorbike lock and stole it, then took it to Nguyen Tat Tri's house (born in 1968) residing in Do Thanh hamlet, Thinh Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district to leave it. The next day, Khanh and Luc returned to get the motorbike and took it to Vinh city to sell for 3 million VND.

The police are releasing three suspects, Vo Dinh Binh, Le Sy Cuong, and Chu Anh Quyen, to continue investigating and expanding the case.
