Ky Son proposes to isolate Chieu Luu commune to prevent and control Covid-19 epidemic

On the morning of July 19, a working delegation from the Department of Health led by Dr. Dau Huy Hoan, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, worked with the People's Committee of Ky Son district on the prevention and control of Covid-19 in the area.

According to the report of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Son district, on July 15, the area recorded 2 positive cases ofCovid-19in La Ngan village, Chieu Luu commune. As soon as the first Covid-19 infection case appeared in the area, the Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control of Ky Son district implemented a temporary blockade, blocking off trails and paths for people; mobilized the police force to investigate and trace cases in close contact with the patient and send them to quarantine at their place of residence according to regulations; the medical force quickly deployed to take samples for testing; disinfected all areas at risk... Ky Son district also made a plan to support food for poor and disadvantaged households in the blockade area.

To prevent and control the epidemic, the People's Committee of Nghe An province has established a medical isolation area to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic for La Ngan village, Chieu Luu commune, Ky Son district. In addition, 03 villages including Tat Thoong, Luu Hoa, Luu Thang are socially isolated according to Directive 16. The remaining 7 villages of Chieu Luu commune are socially distanced according to Directive 15.

As of 7:00 a.m. on July 19, Ky Son district had 6 Covid-19 infections, 91 F1 cases and 211 F2 cases.

Faced with the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic in the area, Mr. Nguyen Huu Minh - Chairman of the District People's Committee proposed to the working delegation to quarantine Luu Tien village, where 02 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were detected; implement Directive 16 for the entire Chieu Luu commune; implement Directive 15 for communes and towns with F1 cases including Bao Thang, Bao Nam, Pha Danh, Nam Can communes and Muong Xen town. At the same time, the Chairman of the District People's Committee also requested the Provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control to increase supplies and protective equipment for medical staff on duty at the Chieu Luu epidemic center; support more ambulances to transport F0 and F1 cases for treatment and quarantine according to regulations.

Agreeing with the proposal of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Son district, Dr. Dau Huy Hoan also requested the Steering Committee for epidemic prevention and control of Ky Son district to strengthen the tracing of cases related to F0; effectively control at epidemic prevention and control checkpoints; prepare plans to support people in the blockaded area; and develop scenarios to respond to other developments of the epidemic.

Previously, the working group of the Department of Health inspected the actual epidemic prevention and control work in Luu Tien and La Ngan villages; visited medical staff performing contact tracing and sample collection tasks at Chieu Luu 2 Kindergarten; inspected centralized quarantine areas that are receiving and isolating F1 cases related to Covid-19 infections in the area.
