(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 20, on the occasion of Christmas 2021, preparing to welcome the New Year 2022, a delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province visited and congratulated the Bishop's House of Vinh Diocese.

In the warm atmosphere of Christmas 2021, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy informed Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long and priests and religious about some of the province's outstanding socio-economic results in 2021.
Accordingly, despite being affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, the provincial Party Committee and authorities have remained calm and focused on implementing the work of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic, while organizing to welcome people back to their hometowns safely and thoughtfully. Along with that, the province also sent hundreds of medical staff to support some southern provinces.
In the difficult context, spending a lot of effort, time and money to prevent and fight the Covid-19 epidemic, the province's socio-economic situation in 2021 continued to have many very positive changes. In particular, the total product in the province increased by 6.2%, ranking 3rd in the North Central region and top 20 provinces and cities nationwide.

In particular, the agricultural sector increased by 5.59%, higher than in recent years, which confirms that the agricultural potential is maximized, serving as a support for the economy. Industry - construction increased sharply; budget revenue reached over 18,000 billion VND; total import-export turnover increased dramatically, reaching 3.2 billion USD, of which export turnover alone reached over 1.9 billion USD. This year, Nghe An has 20 more communes meeting new rural standards, with a total of 300 communes meeting standards in the whole province, accounting for 72.99% of the total number of communes, with 7 district-level units completing the task of building and meeting new rural standards. In particular, Bishop Alphonsus Nguyen Huu Long and priests and monks have mobilized Catholics to effectively implement patriotic emulation movements, campaigns, general policies and guidelines of the State and the province; especially actively and effectively participating in the election of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term; accompanying in the work of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 pandemic from zoning, tracing, testing, and epidemic suppression activities to donating and supporting necessities and cash for Ho Chi Minh City as well as supporting people in the province; coordinating in building houses of gratitude.
Catholics in the province have also supported and shared the province's educational policies in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic; actively participated in new rural construction activities.

In particular, the coordination between the Bishop, priests, dignitaries, and officials with the Party Committees and authorities at all levels is closer and more sharing. Therefore, the relationship between Catholics and non-Catholics in the province is increasingly nurtured and strengthened.
The Provincial Party Secretary believes that in the coming time, the relationship between the provincial Party Committee and government and the Vinh Diocese Bishop's Office will continue to be close, joining hands to build the province to develop more and more.
