On the way to transport the explosives, Hung was caught red-handed by Quy Hop police.

On May 31, the People's Court of Quy Hop district opened a public trial of the first instance criminal case against defendant Le Xuan Hung (born 1982), residing in Lien Hop commune, for the crime of "illegally transporting explosives".

The investigation determined: On the morning of February 2, 2018, while at home, Hung received a phone call from a man named Thuy (residing in Tay Hieu commune, Thai Hoa town) with the content "Go to the rock field near the mine shed in Huoi Cop valley, Duoc village, Lien Hop commune to get a cardboard box containing explosives to Chau Loc intersection for me", Hung agreed, at about 11 o'clock the same day, Hung walked from home to the location where the explosive box was as instructed.

After opening the box and finding explosives, Hung brought them home and took his wife Le Thi Nhung's motorbike with license plate 37H1 - 254.42 to transport the explosives to the transaction point.

On the way to the Rong hamlet road, Chau Loc commune, Hung was caught red-handed by Quy Hop police with the evidence.

At the time of inspection, Quy Hop police seized 4 kg of explosives and 20 electric detonators with aluminum shells number 8 inside the cardboard box. Hung's actions must be held criminally responsible before the law.

Based on the evidence and documents examined; based on the results of the debate at the trial, the panel sentenced defendant Le Xuan Hung to 12 months in prison with a suspended sentence for the crime of "illegally transporting explosives", with a probationary period of 24 months.

In this case, according to Hung's testimony, the man who asked Hung to transport explosives was named Phan Phuc Thuy (residing in Tay Hieu commune, Thai Hoa town). The investigation agency took his testimony and conducted a confrontation, but Thuy denied Hung's testimony. Because there were no other documents to prove it, there was not enough basis to prosecute Thuy.
