(Baonghean.vn) - Dien Kim Bridge connecting Dien Kim and Dien Bich communes in Dien Chau district (Nghe An) is seriously degraded, affecting the lives of fishermen in the area.
Dien Kim Bridge is over 100m long, 3m wide, and was built in 1994. This bridge plays an important role in connecting Dien Ngoc, Dien Kim and Dien Bich communes across Lach Van estuary, where Dien Chau's largest fishing port is located.
After more than 20 years of use, Dien Kim bridge has seriously degraded.Signs have been erected at the bridgehead to prevent heavy vehicles from passing through, however, the traffic density across the bridge every day is still very high, mainly fishermen selling fish. |
The road surface has many cracks and potholes, the railings are broken, exposing the iron core, rusted. When heavy trucks pass by, the bridge shakes violently. |
It is dangerous but because it is a main commercial route, every day hundreds of people and vehicles still travel across the bridge.Part of the bridge railing was broken, extremely dangerous for traffic participants. |
The bridge is also extremely weak, people had to pile rocks to support it. |
People temporarily installed bamboo railings to ensure traffic across the bridge. However, this is only a temporary solution, because the bridge is too badly damaged and could collapse at any time.Due to financial difficulties, the project is still on paper. Nghe An Department of Transport has requested the authorities to find solutions to prevent heavy vehicles from passing through, in order to minimize risks to the people. |
