A district in Nghe An has 35 million USD in remittances sent home for Tet.
(Baonghean.vn) - This year's Tet holiday, the amount of remittances sent back to their homeland by children of Yen Thanh rice district (Nghe An) working abroad is estimated at 35 million USD, about 5 million USD higher than last year.
According to data from the Yen Thanh District Statistics Office, the whole district currently has over 15,000 people working abroad.

The localities with the largest number of children going to work abroad are: Son Thanh, Vien Thanh, Hong Thanh, Phu Thanh, Lang Thanh, Ma Thanh... Therefore, people in these localities have stable lives, built many high-rise buildings, bought cars and expensive living facilities. Many villages have become villas thanks to working abroad.
Typically, Son Thanh commune always has 1,500 - 1,800 children working in European countries. Mr. Tran Ba Toan - Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune said that during the Lunar New Year, the amount of remittances sent back to the homeland was more than 5.5 million USD, equivalent to 130 billion VND. In particular, there was a family that received 80 thousand USD during this Tet holiday.

Currently, localities in Yen Thanh district are continuing to promote and mobilize their children to work abroad, especially to high-income countries such as Korea, Japan...
According to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2018, overseas laborers' children in the province sent home 255 million USD in remittances.
