With only one day left until the Lunar New Year of the Tiger, the cold rain since last night has forced many peach and kumquat vendors along major roads in Vinh City to drastically reduce their prices in time for Tet. However, the number of buyers is still very small.

According to our survey, if on December 23 and 24, each kumquat tree was usually priced at 2.5 million VND or more, now it is being sold for 500,000 VND with a pot. Similarly, with wild peach trees, which were once priced at no less than 4 million VND/branch, now the price has been reduced dramatically, from 500 to 1.2 million VND/large branch. Ms. Thuy, residing in Chau Hung block, Vinh Tan ward (Vinh city), this year sells peach blossoms in the garden. She said: Peach blossoms are purchased in Yen Thanh and brought to Vinh city to sell. According to Ms. Thuy, this year due to economic difficulties, purchasing power is not like previous years. A few days ago, the price was still good, but as Tet approaches, the price drops more and more, even having to cut losses to be able to return home in time to celebrate Tet with her family.
Mr. Phu, residing in Nghi An commune, imported 200 wild peach branches this year, but up to this point, there are still more than 100 branches that have not been sold. In the days leading up to Tet, he had to mobilize many people in his family to sell peaches, but they were still sluggish. If he does not sell them all today and tomorrow, he will lose money.
