New Year in the fishing village on Lam River
(Baonghean.vn) - Hoa Lam Hamlet in Hung Hoa Commune, Vinh City has been referred to for many years as a small "oasis" along the Lam River. The hamlet is isolated outside the dike, and people's livelihoods mainly depend on the river trade. Tet in this small fishing village does not seem to last long because right after the first day of the New Year, many people return to their familiar fishing jobs.

According to some locals, Hoa Lam hamlet was formed in the 40s of the last century. Life here is not very prosperous because their livelihood depends on the unstable river trade. He said that every day he would set the bottom from 2 pm, and remove the bottom at around 9 pm. During Tet, he caught a lot of shrimp, an average of about 50 kg/day.
