Overcoming family circumstances

Met Nhan at home while he was working to support his family. The district school's valedictorian impressed people around him with his modesty, politeness, and intelligent, witty way of speaking. Nhan shared: "I am very satisfied with my exam score and consider it a source of motivation to try harder in the upcoming journey."

With 29.1 points (Math 9.6, Physics 9.75, Chemistry 9.75), Nhan has the highest entrance exam score for block A in Thanh Chuong district. According to Nhan, this score is higher than he expected, especially in Chemistry.

Nhan said, when he first entered grade 10, out of the 3 subjects in block A, he was best at Math and worst at Chemistry. After a period of concentration and effort, he was able to regain balance, study well and evenly in all 3 subjects.

Nhan is the youngest child in a family of two children. Nhan's family is in a difficult situation. His father, Mr. Tran Hung Hai (81 years old), suffers from many illnesses and is often hospitalized. Although Mr. Hai is a retired soldier, he has to shoulder two burdens, so all the housework is taken care of and planned by his mother, Mrs. Doan Thi My.

From the thatched roof when she first moved out, Mrs. My borrowed money and managed to build a small, two-room house. Her mother, when she was still alive, felt sorry for her daughter for building a house without a door, so she gave her the door. The two sisters Nhan grew up in poverty with many memories of their grandmother and mother.

To raise her children, Mrs. My had to rely on her relatives to cultivate rice fields, because she only had one person in her family. After the harvest, she took advantage of the time to weave, go to the mountains to collect firewood, and cut grass to sell to earn money to cover expenses. Later, when she could no longer farm, she worked hard to make wine and raise pigs to support her children's education. When Nhan was young, he suffered from bronchial asthma and was in poor health, and Mrs. My had to take him to the hospital several times a year.

Recalling the previous years, Mrs. My said in tears: “My family farmed near the bus station. During harvest season, we didn’t have any buffalo or cows, so Nhan had to go in front and pull the cart while I pushed behind. We struggled for a long time to bring the rice home.” Back then, Mrs. My wished her family had a cow to raise both for pulling power during harvest season and to give birth, but she was never able to do so.

Understanding their family's situation and feeling sorry for their mother who had to work hard to earn a living, Nhan and her sister always tried their best in work and study. Both sisters were admitted to Ton Quang Phiet Secondary School, a key school in Thanh Chuong district. When Nhan passed the 10th grade exam with the second highest score in the school, her sister was also studying at the Academy of Finance.

The memory that Nhan remembers most during his school days is that he sympathized with his situation. A brother gave him an old electric bike. His father bought a battery to replace it and installed some new parts to make it suitable for school. That bike was with him throughout his high school years.

Overcoming his family's difficulties, Nhan has achieved many academic achievements. In primary school, Nhan was awarded the title of Excellent Student. During his secondary school years, Nhan was twice awarded the title of Excellent Student of the District in Mathematics in grades 8 and 9. In grade 12, Nhan won second prize in the Provincial Excellent Student in Mathematics. In particular, inHigh school graduation exam 2022, Nhan has the highest score in the district for block A entrance exam: 29.1 points.

Dream of becoming an IT engineer

Sharing about the method of studying and taking exams for block A subjects, Nhan believes that one must have a firm grasp of basic knowledge to lay the foundation for difficult problems. He often applies the "reverse problem" thinking method, finding special points in the hypothesis, and from the hypothesis, orienting the solution method.

In Physics, it is necessary to understand physical phenomena, and then apply appropriate formulas. In Chemistry, you should refer to online experiments and read more documents to form theoretical knowledge and grasp the characteristics and nature of chemical reactions. With multiple choice tests, although you have to do the test quickly, you need to be careful not to make mistakes on easy questions. To do that, you need to practice a lot to have the skills to solve exercises quickly and accurately.

Talking about Nhan's spirit of overcoming difficulties, teacher Nguyen Thi Thu Trang - Math teacher for grade 12A, Thanh Chuong 1 High School shared: "Nhan's parents are old, the family's economy is facing many difficulties, but he always strives to improve. Nhan is a good student, has good thinking, high self-study awareness, attends class attentively, regularly interacts with teachers... With his own efforts, he has achieved high academic achievements, especially in the provincial excellent student exam and the high school graduation exam. I believe and hope that Nhan will achieve more achievements in the upcoming journey".

In addition to being a good student, Nhan is also skillful, often using scrap to make his favorite toys. Nhan said, he is curious about machines and loves information technology. According to Nhan, in the 4.0 era, information technology is extremely important, he wants to become a computer programmer, to be able to unleash his creativity and contribute to improving the quality of life.

Therefore, although his mother wanted him to study pedagogy to help ease the family's difficulties, Nhan participated in the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's aptitude test and applied to this school with the hope of becoming an IT engineer.

As soon as he received his exam results, Nhan believed that he would pass a university. He jokingly told his mother, "If not Polytechnic, then it will be automation." Mrs. My, Nhan's mother, was both excited and happy because her son got a high score, but also worried because of the family's limited financial situation. She said that when her siblings came to congratulate and encourage the family, they asked her if she would have a party for Nhan to go to university, she said, "We don't know the results yet, but if he passes, it doesn't matter."

Everyone hopes that Nhan will promote the spirit of self-reliance, try harder to continue to strive to achieve her dreams and ambitions./.
