In August, the sun shines on the streets of Nam Thanh commune - an advanced new rural commune. The red flag with yellow star flutters cheerfully in front of every house. Many groups of young people are organizing activities to return to the source, to Vien Quang pagoda - where the French colonialists imprisoned many cadres and party members in 1930 - 1931; visiting relics such as: Con Seo Bang, where the first red hammer and sickle flag of Nam Thanh commune appeared during the Nghe Tinh Soviet Movement; Mr. Nguyen Huu Nguon's church, the first meeting place of the Bang Tra Party Cell... Young people also meet and listen to the elderly talk about the patriotism and revolutionary tradition of the first hometown in Nghe An province to rise up and seize power on August 16, 1945.

Revolutionary eldersBui Trong Thanh(98 years old, 75 years in the Party) still remembers clearly the heroic historical days of his homeland Nam Thanh: On August 14, 1945, the Viet Minh Front of Thanh Thuy commune received an order from the Nghe Tinh Inter-provincial Uprising Committee to "Immediately arrange the seizure of power, establish a revolutionary People's Committee in the village, regardless of whether the village is first or the district is first". One day later, the Executive Committee of the Viet Minh Front of the commune met and determined that the opportunity had come, it was necessary to organize an uprising to seize power. At 2:00 p.m. on August 16, 1945, under the direction of the Viet Minh Front, the forces of 7 villages and the organizations of the National Salvation Association rose up to seize power, forcing the village chief Pham Huu Dong to hand over the seal. By 5:30 p.m., the uprising to seize power was successful...

Talking to the young generation of his commune, Mr. Bui Trong Thanh emphasized: The victory of the uprising to seize power in Nam Thanh commune opened the way for the uprising to seize power in other villages and communes, directly threatening the survival of the Japanese fascist puppet government in Nam Dan district at that time. This victory was achieved thanks to the solidarity, unanimity and high revolutionary determination of the working class in Nam Thanh commune... The victory of the uprising to seize power was the crystallization of revolutionary achievements, demonstrating the indomitable fighting spirit of cadres, party members and people under the leadership of the Party.

“Reviewing the past to learn the present”, Mr. Bui Trong Thanh also expressed his joy when seeing young people come to visit; even happier when knowing that the work of educating revolutionary traditions for the younger generation has always been of interest and care to the Party Committee and the government of Nam Thanh commune… “The glorious past of the homeland in the past will become a proud tradition for the next generation to promote. As the bamboo grows old, the young shoots grow, I hope that you will continue to promote the spirit of uprising, standing up first of your ancestors in the past to continue building the homeland and the country today” – Mr. Thanh advised.

Determined to build a model new countryside

Joining the young people of the commune to visit Mr. Thanh on this occasion was comrade Trinh Thi Quynh Nga - Secretary of the Party Committee of Nam Thanh commune. She told him: Nam Thanh is a heroic commune. Being a heroic homeland, it cannot be "slowly developing". From this perspective, in recent years, the Party Committee, government and people of the commune have focused on economic development, high-tech agriculture development, infrastructure construction, and efforts to build new rural areas. In 2023, the whole commune will have only 0.4% of poor households, with an average income of 50.8 million VND/person/year; the average economic growth rate will reach 7%; security and order will be ensured; cultural and social criteria will all be at a high level. The appearance of the countryside, economic infrastructure, and people's lives have made remarkable progress compared to before.

With the active participation of the entire political system from commune to hamlet, the consensus and high response of all people, after 4 years of implementing the construction of advanced new rural areas, by December 2022, Nam Thanh commune had completed the contents and was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a commune meeting advanced new rural standards with many outstanding contents and criteria. In April 2023, Nam Thanh commune held the Launching Ceremony for building a commune meeting model new rural standards in 2023.

According to comrade Trinh Thi Quynh Nga: Besides the achievements, the commune still has limitations, such as unsustainable agricultural economy; limited development of high-tech production; unsynchronized cultural institutions in hamlets; not many hamlets or residential areas achieving bright - green - clean - beautiful models. Currently, Nam Thanh commune is trying to overcome these limitations. From now until the end of the year, the commune will continue to complete the rural traffic system, intra-field traffic, invest in building bridges, culverts, canals; continue to expand sidewalks, covered drainage ditches, plant flower and tree routes; hamlets, residential areas, bright - green - clean - beautiful routes; standard gardens, model gardens; build more OCOP products... to achieve the new rural model standards by the end of 2023. In the outstanding field of education, Nam Thanh commune focuses on building a National Standard Secondary School level 2, a Primary School as a key school in the region...

There are still difficulties and challenges ahead, but the Party Committee and People of Nam Thanh commune are determined to maintain the revolutionary spirit, promote the historical traditions of the commune to steadily move forward, and strive to make the old homeland of Thanh Thuy - Nam Thanh today truly strong and rich.../.
