Raising awareness and understanding of the law on preventing and combating torture
(Baonghean.vn) - Implementing Plan No. 271/KH-UBND dated April 27, 2018 of the Provincial People's Committee, on December 10, 2018, at Huu Nghi Hotel (Vinh City, Nghe An), the Department of Justice organized a legal training conference on preventing and combating torture for officials, civil servants, public employees and people.
The conference was attended by more than 200 legal reporters at district, city and town levels in the province. The training session aims to help raise awareness and understanding of officials, civil servants, public employees and people about the content of the Convention against Torture and Vietnamese law.

The propaganda content includes the basic content of the United Nations Convention against Torture; documents on the implementation of the Convention; provisions of Vietnamese law on preventing and combating torture, including: Human rights, provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code, the Civil Code, and the Law on Denunciation to ensure better implementation of human rights and compliance with the requirements of the Convention against Torture.
At the conference, the basic contents of the Law on Enforcement of Criminal Judgments, the Law on Handling of Administrative Violations, legal regulations on professional ethics of officials and civil servants to ensure respect for human rights when performing public duties; professional measures that competent agencies and persons conducting proceedings are applied during the proceedings according to regulations.
In addition, the implementation will be to propagate and post the contents of the Convention against Torture and the provisions of Vietnamese law on preventing and combating torture on the electronic information portals of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Supreme People's Court.

Regularly organize legal seminars on the content of the Convention against Torture for legal reporters; disseminate information through investigation activities, citizen reception, and complaint and denunciation settlement.
The dissemination and popularization of laws and the Convention against Torture must be carried out regularly in conjunction with the effective implementation of criminal procedure laws; integrating the implementation of the Project with the implementation of programs on dissemination of laws; applying information technology in disseminating the basic contents of the Convention against Torture and Vietnamese laws on preventing and combating torture.
