Increasing the number of schools to reduce the pressure of admission to grade 10 is the desire of many voters in Vinh city. Therefore, people propose to expand or open more branches of high schools in the city.

In recent years, as the number of students taking the entrance exam to public schools in the area has increased rapidly, admission to public schools will become more difficult, because the school's quota can only meet about 70% of students in the area. It is expected that from the next school year, the number of students taking the entrance exam to grade 9 in the city (not including the merger of Cua Lo and some communes of Nghi Loc) will be from 8,000 - 9,000 students/year, an increase of 2,000 - 3,000 students compared to the 2024 exam.

Responding to voters in the city about this issue, the Department of Education and Training said: In recent school years, to meet the learning needs of Vinh city students, the Provincial People's Committee has approved a plan to develop high schools in Vinh city and surrounding areas in the direction of increasing classes and increasing student numbers.

In the 2024-2025 school year alone, Huynh Thuc Khang High School, Ha Huy Tap High School, and Le Viet Thuat High School each have 3 additional classes, and 3 10th grade classes have been recruited from Vinh University Practical High School.

Thanks to that, 12 more public 10th grade classes have been added. In addition, consider increasing the enrollment quota for 10th grade for public high schools near Vinh, in the areas of Hung Nguyen and Nghi Loc. With these measures, it has contributed to reducing the pressure on public 10th grade for students in Vinh city.

According to city statistics, after 3 years, the number of 9th graders in the whole province will reach its peak with 72,618 students, of which Vinh city has more than 9,000 students. The scale of 70,000 9th graders has been maintained for many years.

To match the population size and development trends, the city has also had solutions to expand the scale of schools in Vinh city. Accordingly, after Merging Cua Lo town and 4 communes of Nghi Loc, Vinh city will have 6 public high schools, increasing the number of public schools per population.

In addition, the Department is also actively preparing conditions to ensure the opening of a second branch of Huynh Thuc Khang High School in Nghi An commune; directing high schools to strengthen facilities and build more classrooms where possible to increase the scale of student admission.

According to the industry plan,When Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted moves to a new location, the Department of Education and Training will work with Vinh City to implement a plan for Dang Thai Mai Middle School to take over Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and develop Dang Thai Mai Middle School into a joint middle and high school.

The Department also proposed a solution to gradually increase the number of classes at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and Vinh University High School for the Gifted, in order to create learning opportunities for students in Vinh city.

At the same time, the Department continues to direct non-public schools with good educational quality such as Phuong Hoang High School, Nguyen Truong To High School, Herrmann Gmeiner High School, and Viet Anh High School to increase the number of classes and students.

In addition, continue to call on domestic and foreign investors to invest in building more schools in the area to socialize education, creating more learning opportunities for students.
