On the school side, to speed up the review process, grade 12 students are allowed to complete the program quite early and by the first week of May, many schools have basically finished the semester exam. Anh Son 1 High School is one of the top schools in the province and also has a very high rate of candidates registering for university admission. In class 12T1 - the key class of Anh Son 1 High School, the exam preparation atmosphere is also urgent. In the recent provincial mock exam, the class had 1 student in the top 5 with 27.7 points, the average score was over 22.

Teacher Pham Thi Thanh Thai - Head teacher of the class shared: “Our class has 42 students and all of them are applying to university. During the acceleration period, we organize review sessions for each subject for different groups of students. If students register for university entrance exams, we will focus on improving their knowledge. On the contrary, for graduation exams, we focus on reviewing basic knowledge so that they can get good enough scores.”

At Hoang Mai High School, the review program for 12th graders has been built by the school since the beginning of the school year, so up to this point, the school has been completely proactive for final year students.

Teacher Ho Hong Son - Principal of the school shared: “Right from the time students were admitted to the school, we divided the classes according to the students' wishes and they determined the exam group quite early. Therefore, during the exam review process, students and teachers were not confused and prepared very early. At the end of the school year, we did not review by class but reviewed for each student. We also asked the subject groups to carefully analyze the structure of the sample exam, create questions and organize mock exams for students. In order to review the exam effectively, the school selected teachers with good ethics, experience and enthusiasm to guide the students in their review. For students with weaker abilities, the school organized separate tutoring classes for them.”

Proactively switch to online exam preparation

The online teaching policy was developed by the Department of Education and Training at the beginning of the school year in the context of the whole sector fighting the epidemic but still having to ensure teaching and learning tasks. Teacher Le Tung Lam is a Physics teacher at Ha Huy Tap High School and is also one of the teachers with a lot of experience in reviewing for grade 12 exams. Recently, in parallel with teaching directly in class, he and many other teachers have created sets of questions to guide review through the school's own online review channel.

Sharing more about this, the teacher said: “We have now accelerated the program to complete the testing and assessment for final year students. At the same time, I have also implemented online teaching plans to suit the new situation. In the process of preparing lesson plans, we closely followed the sample test questions. Online teaching is carried out in parallel in two forms: both online lecturing and giving exercises and grading students online to be able to properly assess students' abilities...”.

In recent times, Ha Huy Tap High School has also been a pioneer in building the program.online teachingSpecifically, the school builds a subject club and based on the built software, teachers in each subject group will create questions and organize online review for all students in each class and different exam groups.

Teacher Cao Thanh Bao - Principal of the school also said: "In the past time, the school's students have been familiar with online learning and testing to practice test-taking skills. Therefore, if in the future, students do not come to school, the school will start reviewing online on the school's own system according to the online classroom model."

Currently, this online teaching method is also being applied and implemented by schools in Hoang Mai town under the condition that all students in the school have to temporarily stop going to school due to a patient testing positive for Covid-19 in the area.

At Hoang Mai 2 High School, where a student is the daughter of a Covid-19 positive patient, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Bai - Vice Principal of the school said: "The school plans to complete the periodic test on May 11, however, due to the temporary absence of students, the school has not been able to conduct the semester test. If students continue to be absent from school, the school will consider conducting the semester test online. The school is also considering the option of assigning test questions, allowing students to complete the homework at home and submit them to teachers for grading to get the periodic test scores.

For 12th graders, although the school year program has been basically completed, when implementing online review, we also anticipated difficulties when infrastructure conditions were not guaranteed, teachers had difficulty closely controlling students, some students were self-studying and self-discipline was not high. In the immediate future, the school will coordinate many channels to review for exams such as teaching via youtube, giving mock exams via social networks to help students not interrupt their studies."

From now until the 2021 High School Graduation Exam, 12th graders have nearly 2 months to prepare. At this time, the Department of Education and Training also directed schools to be ready to proactively switch to online exam preparation if the epidemic becomes complicated. Previously, in order for 12th graders to effectively review for the exam, the Department also issued detailed instructions. The Department also requested schools, based on the analysis of the Ministry's reference exam questions, the results of the mock exams, and the classification of students, to review and adjust the review plan for students in each stage.

“When teaching online, we direct units to review the implementation of the education plan to identify the subject content and educational activities that have not been implemented, thereby selecting appropriate teaching content in the form of online teaching and other forms to ensure core knowledge and skills for students.

However, when building a timetable, do not overload students and arrange the schedule to minimize overlapping schedules between levels to create favorable conditions for parents and students.
