Nghe An: There is harassment on the Covid-19 prevention and control hotline
(Baonghean.vn) - To prevent and combat the Covid-19 epidemic, Nghe An Health Department currently has 2 hotline numbers to receive reports. In addition to positive feedback, the hotline number for Covid-19 prevention and combat also received many "harassing" calls.
To prevent and combat the Covid-19 epidemic, Nghe An Health Department has set up 2 hotline numbers, including the existing hotline number of Nghe An Department of Health (0966.641.414) and the phone number of Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control (0912.330.451).

On peak days (when China, South Korea, and Europe were experiencing outbreaks), the health sector's hotline received over 500 calls. On normal days, the number of incoming calls ranged from 250 to 300. The content of the calls mostly reflected cases of people returning from abroad. Through these calls, the Provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control has clearly grasped each specific case to promptly direct, handle, quarantine, and monitor health.
However, in addition to the positive feedback, the Covid-19 prevention and control hotline also received many "harassing" calls, asking questions unrelated to the prevention and control of the epidemic, such as "school holiday schedule", "where to buy flu medicine"... teasing about life issues such as "do you have a lover?", even "I'm drunk now, can you show me where the toilet is"...
Harassing calls have more or less affected the work of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic when people reporting information about the epidemic cannot connect to the hotline due to overload. At the same time, harassment wastes the processing time of medical staff on duty at the hotline.
Nghe An Health Department recommends: For those who intentionally "harass" the hotline number for Covid-19 prevention and control, the Health Department will report to the police to investigate and handle violations according to current regulations. The fine can be up to 20 million VND, and criminal proceedings may even be considered. Even when using "junk SIMs" to make calls, the authorities can completely base on the signal column receiving the call to isolate, verify, investigate and handle.
Nghe An Health Department wishes: People to provide correct, accurate, and concise information when calling the hotline, avoiding harassing information, lack of cooperation, or asking questions unrelated to the epidemic. If the line is busy, please wait patiently to be served. The hotline number currently has a missed call notification schedule, and Nghe An health staff will call back immediately./.
