Nghe An: Successful rescue of a fishing boat that sank at sea
(Baonghean.vn) - While anchoring at sea to avoid a tropical depression, a fishing boat of fishermen in Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district had a hole in the bottom and was sunk by waves.
At about 8:30 a.m. on October 16, at the sea dike of Dai Bac village, communeQuynh Long, fishing boat of fisherman Ngo Van Thong (born in 1986, residing in Dai Bac village) is anchored 500 meters from shore.
Due to rough seas and strong winds, Mr. Thong's boat was pushed by waves and collided with the anchor of another boat, causing a hole in the bottom and water to flood in. Not only that, the big waves also pushed his boat nearly 1 km away from shore.

Discovering the sinking fishing boat, Mr. Thong called on people in the Quynh Long sea area to come to the rescue and pull the boat ashore. Due to rough seas, the rescue work encountered many difficulties.
Upon receiving the information, Quynh Long commune mobilized militia forces and hundreds of local people to use ropes to tie the boat to pull it to shore. After nearly 2 hours, at about 11 o'clock the same day, the boat was brought to shore, with a large hole at the bottom of the boat with a radius of 20 cm.

It is known that Mr. Ngo Van Thong's fishing boat has a capacity of 30 CV, specializing in near-shore fishing; it was recently refurbished in 2019 with a total cost of more than 100 million VND.
Mr. Thong said that all the machinery and fishing gear were flooded with seawater and had to be repaired. Luckily, when the boat was hit by waves,sink, the family discovered and rescued in time, so the damage was limited.
