Nghe An: Catholic Congress was a great success

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 12, in Vinh City, the 8th Congress of Vietnamese Catholics for National Construction and Defense in Nghe An Province, term 2022-2027, took place successfully.

Attending the Congress were comrades: Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of departments, branches, localities and organizations.On the side of the Central Committee of Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, there was Priest Tran Xuan Manh - President of the Central Committee of Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics.

“BE THE SALT OF THE WORLD AND THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD”

During the past term, the patriotic emulation movement among Catholics in Nghe An province has made new developments in all areas of social life, with the emergence of many good models and good practices in labor production, economic development, poverty reduction, humanitarian charity activities, compliance with the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State, and ensuring social order and safety.

The community of God's people in Nghe An province currently has over 50,840 households, with over 292,000 people, operating in 14 deaneries and 115 parishes. The community lives in solidarity and integration in the territory of 20/21 districts, cities and towns; operating under the guidance of the Vinh Diocese Bishop's Office.

The community has made an important contribution to the successful implementation of the province's economic and social tasks, strengthening the great national unity bloc, while also implementing well the annual pastoral program and the direction of activities of the Catholic Church of Vietnam, respecting God, loving the country, living a good life and being religious, "being the salt of the earth and the light of the world".

The Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of the province and the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee at the district level actively promote the patriotic tradition of Catholic compatriots in the cause of renovation; closely follow the principles, purposes, Charter, and directions of operation; regularly coordinate closely with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and agencies, closely follow the grassroots, guide and motivate the Catholic community in relevant sectors; and parishioners effectively carry out patriotic emulation movements.

There are many reasons for achieving the above results, but the most basic reason is that the activities of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of the province have received the attention and leadership of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee and the Party Committee, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, departments, branches, the consensus of the Bishop's Office, priests and the Pastoral Council of parishes, and the response of the Catholic community, which have contributed to the effective implementation of the programs and goals set out.

Speaking at the Congress, Priest Tran Xuan Manh - President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee, asked the members of the Committee of the Catholic Solidarity and the pioneer delegates to become examples of good people, good deeds, full of enthusiasm and dedication, spreading to those around them.

"I believe that all the people of our province, united between Catholics and non-Catholics, will successfully build new rural areas and civilized urban areas, and live a good life and a good religion in this sacred land of talented people," said Father Tran Xuan Manh.

WORSHIPING GOD AND PATRIOTIZING COUNTRY ARE INSEPARABLE DUTY

Speaking at the Congress, Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the emulation movement, typical examples of good people, good deeds among Catholics and the activities of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of the province in the past time have always closely followed the political tasks of the province and the locality, in accordance with the guidance of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee and the pastoral direction of the church.

Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu said that behind the achievements, behind the typical advanced examples, the good deeds are the hearts of patriotism, respect for humanity, mutual love and affection for compatriots; determination to enrich oneself and the homeland and country; the will to strive to master science and technology to work and produce with higher quality and efficiency.

"The results achieved today will be the foundation and catalyst to contribute to bringing the emulation movements among Catholics to become more and more profound, more substantial and achieve better results. These results have demonstrated the spirit of: Respecting God, loving the country, being attached and loyal to the Fatherland, following the right religion, and living life to the fullest," he assessed.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu proposed and hoped that delegates attending the Congress, Catholic compatriots of Nghe An province, dignitaries, officials, monks, and pastoral councils would continue to strengthen solidarity, promote all activities more strongly, actively respond to movements, and compete with the whole people to successfully complete the set goals and tasks.

Every dignitary, official, monk and layperson needs to determine that respecting God and loving the country are inseparable tasks, wholeheartedly serving the Fatherland to glorify God; clearly and fully define the rights, obligations and responsibilities of citizens, uphold the spirit of patriotism and the charitable morality of Christ, continue to strive, make efforts to rise up, contribute more to achieve more good achievements, be worthy of being a shining example for everyone to follow, truly "be the yeast, the salt of the earth and the light of the world"...

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Provincial Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics for the 2022-2027 term to continue to play a good role as a bridge between religion and life, gather and unite Catholics in Nghe An province, encourage them to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; continue to organize many exciting and practical emulation movements among Catholics to arouse patriotism and national pride, making the emulation movements more practical and effective in the coming time.

"I would like to thank and congratulate the results of the patriotic emulation movement among Catholics and the activities of the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee. I wish that the typical models and examples among Catholics and the spirit of the Congress will be replicated and spread throughout the province, contributing effectively to the economic development, building a cultural life, and building a rich and civilized homeland," said Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu.

After 2 working days, the 8th Congress of Vietnamese Catholics for National Construction and Defense in Nghe An province, term 2022-2027, completed the proposed programs and contents, approved the draft Resolution and closed.

The congress elected 74 members to the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of Nghe An province for the 2022-2027 term. At the first conference, the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of Nghe An province elected 8 members to the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of Nghe An province for the 2022-2027 term. Priest Nguyen Dang Dien continues to hold the position of Chairman of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee of Nghe An province for the 2022-2027 term. The congress also elected a delegation to attend the 13th Congress of Vietnamese Catholics for National Construction and Defense, term 2023-2028.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 1 collective and 1 individual; the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 collectives and 8 individuals; the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 8 collectives and 8 individuals.
