(Baonghean.vn) - Thousands of hectares of vegetables in the specialized growing areas of Quynh Luu and Dien Chau were killed by flooding and cannot be restored.

According to farmers, they are currently unable to reproduce because the soil is wet.

Ms. Ho Thi Loan in Quynh Minh commune shared: The spring onion crop is only a few days away from harvest, but the rain causedflooded, damaged. Regretting the loss, the family harvested the remaining parts to save some capital, but because the leaves were crushed and damaged, traders only bought them for 5,000 VND/kg. "The water has receded for a day, but the soil is still wet and there are often floods this season, so we don't know when we can resume production," said Ms. Ho Thi Loan.

During this flood, Quynh Luu district suffered the heaviest damage with 956 hectares of autumn-winter vegetables in the communes of Quynh Yen, Quynh My, Quynh Tan, Ngoc Son, Quynh Tam, Quynh Chau, Quynh Nghia, Quynh Minh, Quynh Luong, Quynh Bang, Quynh Tho, Quynh Thuan, Quynh Van being flooded and damaged by over 70%, followed by about 600 hectares of freshwater aquaculture ponds; 10 thousand poultry of farms and households died...

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dinh - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, for vegetables and freshwater aquaculture areas, it is considered aslost, causing great damage to the people's economy. Currently, the vegetable growing area has receded, but because this month is the rainy season, it is often flooded, so people are not in a hurry to resume production, waiting about 1 more month to safely plant winter crops.
