Nghe An prosecutes and temporarily detains 9 people in case of young man being 'buried alive'

On the morning of April 5, Vinh City Police decided to initiate criminal proceedings and prosecute 9 people related to the case.young man was "buried alive"caused a stir in public opinion in recent days.

These 9 people were prosecuted and temporarily detained for the crime of “Illegal detention” according to Article 157 of the Penal Code. The remaining 5 people in the group are still underage, so the investigation agency will continue to fight and handle administrative violations for other acts.

The people prosecuted include: Nguyen Trong Duong (31 years old, residing in Truong Thi ward, Vinh city). Duong is accused of being the ringleader of the case. The remaining 8 defendants are Ho Trong Khanh (born in 1995), Le Nguyen Hung (born in 2004, both residing in Trung Do ward), Nguyen Tien Nam (born in 2003, residing in Nghi Phu commune), Phung Duy Ngoc Anh (born in 2003, residing in Nghi Loc district), Tran Manh Tai (born in 2001, residing in Hung Dung ward), Vo Quang Hoang (born in 2004, residing in Dong Vinh ward), Hoang Quang Thanh (born in 2004, residing in Hung Binh ward), Nguyen Dinh Huy (born in 2000, residing in Ha Tinh).

According to the initial investigation, NQV (17 years old, Xuan An town, Nghi Xuan, Ha Tinh), rented a motorbike from Nguyen Trong Duong but then did not return it. Angry because he could not get the motorbike back, Duong directed his juniors to search for this young man. On March 24, this group encountered V. in Vinh city, so they held him back, stripped him, and assaulted him. The group then took V. to an empty lot in Hong Lam oasis (located in the middle of Lam river, in Nghi Xuan district), and beat him. The group also dug a hole, covered V.'s head with a sack, and pushed him into the hole to cover it with dirt..., despite the victim's pleas.

A while later, V. was pulled up and taken to the river to bathe. On March 26, a video of the incident was shared on social media, shocking public opinion. After receiving the information, just 3 hours later, Vinh City Police arrested 13 people in this group of young men and summoned the victim for questioning. A few days later, Vinh City Police arrested Nguyen Trong Duong while he was hiding in Hanoi.
