Nghe An: Prosecuted dozens of subjects for transnational gambling with over 100 billion VND
(Baonghean.vn) - The Vinh City Police Department announced that it has just initiated a case and prosecuted 18 suspects for gambling in the form of lotteries. Initially, the police agency proved that the amount of money the suspects used for gambling was more than 100 billion VND.
At the end of 2020, through basic investigation, Vinh City Police discovered a gambling ring in the area using lottery numbers.

Through the investigation and verification process, the Task Force identified the group of subjects leading the gambling ring including: Nguyen Ngoc Quy (born in 1993), Truong Thi Thuy Hang (born in 1998) and Truong Thi Sao Truc (born in 1973), all residing in Vinh City; Nguyen Thi Hien (born in 1978, residing in Nghi Loc District); Nguyen Van Uyen (born in 1982, residing in Hung Nguyen District); Cao Thi Ly (born in 1961, residing in Quy Hop District) and Do Van Lanh (born in 1993, residing in Dong Anh District, Hanoi); Nguyen Thi Cuc (born in 1981, residing in Quang Xuong District, Thanh Hoa).
Recognizing that this was an inter-provincial, inter-district gambling ring, committing crimes in many other provinces and cities, the Task Force decided to deploy many reconnaissance teams in Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, and Nghe An provinces. The working groups were assigned to verify the identities, monitor the movements of the subjects, and collect evidence. During the investigation, the Task Force encountered many difficulties due to the large scale of this ring, with subjects from many localities, different customs, habits, etc.

On April 3, seeing the opportunity was ripe, the Task Force decided to crack the case, the working groups implemented the Emergency Detention Order and searched the residences of the subjects for the act of "Gambling". After that, the subjects were escorted to the headquarters of the Vinh City Police Department to fight. Faced with clear evidence and sharp arguments from the investigators, the subjects had to bow their heads and admit their guilt.
As a result of the investigation, 18 subjects were arrested and prosecuted for "Gambling", 28 mobile phones, 6 bank cards, 1 laptop were seized; initially proving that the amount of money the subjects used for gambling was up to more than 100 billion VND.
