Nghe An: The number of public schools enrolling 10th grade students according to NV2 and NV3 is sparse.

The Department of Education and Training has just announced the decision on approving admission for wishes 2 and 3, Entrance Exam forGrade 10– school year 2023 – 2024.

In the list of more than 100 public and non-public high schools, vocational training centers, and continuing education centers, the number of public schools that enroll NV2 and NV3 students is not much. For example, in Vinh city, the three high schools Ha Huy Tap, Huynh Thuc Khang, and Le Viet Thuat do not enroll NV2 students. In Dien Chau, Nam Dan, Do Luong, and Thanh Chuong districts, the top public schools in the district also do not enroll NV2 students.

The number of schools that recruit NV2 and NV3 students in public schools can be "counted on the fingers", such as Thai Hoa High School, Que Phong High School, Anh Son 2 High School, Anh Son 3 High School, Yen Thanh 2 High School and Yen Thanh 3 High School. Some schools that recruited NV2 and NV3 students in previous years, such as Tuong Duong 1 High School and Tuong Duong 2 High School, no longer recruit candidates for this group this year.

According to the recently announced list, schools enrolling NV2 and NV3 are mainly non-public schools and continuing education centers, vocational education and continuing education centers.

Regarding the 10th grade entrance exam according to the latest instructions of the Department, this year, students applying for advanced classes only need to consider the entrance exam scores and do not need the second criterion of passing a public school, so even if they do not enroll NV2 students, students can still apply for advanced classes. However, the fact that fewer and fewer schools are enrolling NV2 and NV3 makes the opportunity for students to enter public schools less and students need to consider before registering for the exam to increase their chances of being admitted.

In addition, according to the Department's instructions, this year, NV recruitment will only consider students who have participated in the 2023-2024 High School Entrance Exam, have taken all required exams, have not violated the Exam Regulations during the entrance exam, and all exams have a score greater than 0.

The admission score is the total score of the three exams and the bonus points for the beneficiaries of preferential policies (if any). The Admissions Council of high schools will base the admission scores from high to low until the assigned quota is filled. In case of reaching the last quota, if there are many candidates with the same admission score, the school's Admissions Council will make a list and submit it to the Department for consideration and approval.

The Department also stipulates that for schools that register for admission to the second and third choices, 10% to 15% of the quota will be reserved for admission to the second and third choices according to the following principles:

+ For wish 2: Only consider candidates who have not passed wish 1, the admission score for wish 2 must be at least 1.0 point higher than the admission score for wish 1.

+ For wish 3: Only consider candidates who have not passed wish 2, the admission score for wish 3 must be at least 1.0 point higher than the admission score for wish 2.

- Huynh Thuc Khang High School conducts independent admission for students applying to campus 1 and campus 2 according to the assigned quota. The Admissions Council reviews and crosses out the names of successful candidates who have withdrawn their applications to Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School, Vinh University Specialized High School, Provincial Ethnic Minority High School, Ethnic Minority High School No. 2, other high schools, students transferring to other provinces, etc. from the list on the school's admissions system; determines the benchmark score for each wish; finalizes the list of successful candidates, and submits it to the Department for approval on the admissions software system.

This year, for the first time, the Department will recruit students based on the results of training, study and entrance exam. The Admission Council of high schools will base the admission score on the admission score from high to low until the assigned quota is reached. The admission score is equal to the total score of training and study results of 4 years of secondary school plus priority and incentive points.
