(Baonghean.vn) - To respond to storm No. 4, the Fisheries Department has proactively contacted ship owners via long-range communication devices. Currently, there are still 1,355 Nghe An boats operating at sea, all of which have grasped information about storm No. 4 to avoid it. From 5am tomorrow, August 29, Nghe An will ban the sea.

Notice to all ships to take shelter from storm

To proactively respond to storm No. 4, Quynh Luu district is focusing on calling on fishing boats at sea to return to safe places to avoid and take shelter from the storm, and at the same time has a plan to evacuate households in threatened areas when necessary.

Quynh Luu district currently has nearly 1,200 vessels, including more than 900 offshore fishing boats owned by fishermen from Tien Thuy, Quynh Long, Quynh Nghia, and Son Hai communes.

By the afternoon of August 28, more than 500 offshore fishing vessels had returned to anchor and take shelter at Lach Quen and Lach Thoi fishing ports (Quynh Luu); the remaining more than 400 vessels were on their way to shore to take shelter or were returning to anchor in other localities.

Mr. Dau Duc Nam - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district said that for the vessels that have returned to shore, the district requires localities to go to the boat anchorage area to instruct fishermen on how to anchor and avoid collisions with boats when there are big waves and strong winds. For the vessels that are on their way to shore, the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station is required to continue calling to update the situation; at the same time, the cooperative groups operating at sea are required to inform each other, and no vessels are allowed to stay behind to fish.

Cua Lo Town has a total of 260 boats, of which 170 have a capacity of less than 90 CV, mainly fishing close to shore. These boats are currently on their way back, expected to return in full by early tomorrow morning and will not be allowed to go to sea from tomorrow.

For 90 vessels with a capacity of over 90 CV (50 vessels under 400 CV fishing in the open sea, near the shore, 40 vessels over 400 CV fishing far from shore), Cua Lo town has issued a notice and requested them to return to take shelter. It is expected that tomorrow, 100% of the vessels will arrive at their place to anchor safely. All vessels are still maintaining stable communication.

In Dien Chau, Mr. Nguyen Van Bang in Dien Ngoc commune (Dien Chau) just brought his fishing boat to Lach Van fishing port and said: His boat has a capacity of over 90 CV, since yesterday afternoon, he received information about storm No. 4, which is also the time when 4 days of fishing at sea ended. Therefore, this afternoon (August 28), he brought the boat back to port safely and found shelter, not going out to sea again.

Dien Chau district has 1,546 boats, of which 280 have a capacity of over 90 CV, so most of the local boats fish close to shore. Nghe An currently has 3,510 boats. According to the report of the Department of Fisheries, as of 2:30 p.m. on August 28, the number of boats anchored at safe ports was 2,155; the number of boats operating in the sea areas was 1,355 from the following localities: Hoang Mai town, Quynh Luu district, Dien Chau, Nghi Loc, Vinh city and Cua Lo town.

Currently, Nghe An Fisheries Sub-Department has sent out a notice via the HF VX-1700 long-range communication device on the frequency of 8058 kHz of the Sub-Department's Coastal Station. All vessels operating at sea have been able to contact the Coastal Station, grasping the developments of storm No. 4 to proactively avoid it. No vessels have lost contact.

In addition, the Department of Fisheries has informed communes, wards and aquaculture households about the forecast time, direction of movement and level of storm No. 4, requiring localities and aquaculture households to proactively implement preventive measures and minimize damage.

Currently, the aquaculture area in the province is nearly 17,000 hectares and 960 cages.

From 5am on August 29, Nghe An will ban the sea.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting about storm number 4,10am on August 28, the center of the storm is located at about 17.1 degrees North latitude; 117.4 degrees East longitude, about 550 km east of Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest wind near the center of the storm is level 8 (60 - 75 km/hour),level 10. Radius of strong winds level 6, gusting to level 8 or higher is about 100 km from the center of the storm.

Forecast for the next 24 hours,The storm is moving west at about 25 km per hour and is likely to strengthen. At 10:00 a.m. on August 29, the center of the storm was at about 17.5 degrees North latitude; 112.2 degrees East longitude, right on the Hoang Sa archipelago, the strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 8-9 (60-90 km/hour),level 11.
