Danger lurks at the 'death' intersection in Vinh City
On average, there is at least one traffic accident every week at this traffic black spot. However, at the intersection in Nghi Duc commune, Vinh city, there are no traffic lights or speed limit signs to help people drive safely.
The intersection of the 35 meter road, Le Quy Don road and Xuan Hoa inter-hamlet road connecting Xuan Trung, Nghi Duc commune, Vinh city is currently one of the most painful traffic black spots in Vinh city when accidents occur continuously.

Living on Le Quy Don Street for many years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao has witnessed many traffic accidents here. Gradually, this intersection has become a nightmare for local people.
Since the beginning of July, there have been 3 accidents here. Although there were no casualties, people had to go to the emergency room and vehicles were severely damaged. The accidents mainly happened during rush hour, when students were going to school and people were coming home from work. During the day, it was like that, but at night, heavy trucks rumbled on the 35 meter road without any authorities handling it.

According to the reporter's observation, the traffic situation at this intersection is particularly chaotic, not following the rules. The number of vehicles passing through here is very large and diverse, from bicycles, motorbikes, cars, to heavy trucks, passenger cars, and container trucks. Notably, the vehicles circulating are not only vehicles with Nghe An license plates but also many vehicles from other provinces and cities passing through here. When arriving at the intersection, the vehicles compete to honk loudly to ask for the right of way. Many vehicles arrive at the intersection but do not reduce speed, which is very dangerous.
It is worth mentioning that although traffic accidents have occurred, this intersection has no traffic lights, no signs to guide traffic or reduce speed. Patrols and vehicle controls are not carried out regularly, causing frustration among the people.

In meetings at the hamlet, commune or local voter meetings, the issue of traffic safety at this intersection is always the first thing we, the people, have raised, but for many years, it has not been resolved. What the people want most is to have traffic lights so that vehicles can give way to each other across the road. If this chaotic traffic situation continues, fatal accidents are entirely possible.
Mr. Phan Van Hung - Nghi Duc commune, Vinh city

Nghi Duc Commune authorities said that in reality, the lack of traffic safety at the intersection of 35-meter road, Le Quy Don road and inter-hamlet road has been reported by the people many times. This is also a concern of the locality. The commune has also sent many recommendations and documents to superiors about installing traffic lights, adding signs as well as handling heavy-duty vehicles circulating in this area, however, to date, it has not been implemented.

“In early July, the city’s working group also returned to the locality to inspect traffic black spots. We hope that the authorities and competent units will soon recognize the danger at this intersection. From there, they will speed up the installation of traffic lights here to minimize accidents as well as ensure the quality of the roads in operation,” Nghi Duc commune authorities added.
