Kim Dong Publishing House introduces 17 publications commemorating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), Kim Dong Publishing House introduces 17 outstanding publications.
17 works of diverse forms and genres: novels, short stories, poems, memoirs, diaries, comics... Each publication is like a piece of a puzzle that brings readers to the whole picture of the historic Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
The special feature of the book series is the elaborate investment in art. Compared to the previous edition, this edition of “Tell the Story of Dien Bien Phu” has a completely new look, with elaborate and vivid color illustrations by artist Nguyen The Phuong. The three books depict the portraits, exploits and heroic sacrifices of three steadfast soldiers in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, Phan Dinh Giot, Be Van Dan and To Vinh Dien, clearly and vividly depicted through the vivid color illustrations by artist Le Minh Hai.

Among the publications released this time is a special book: “Sketches in the trenches - War diary of a young soldier in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign” by artist and war correspondent Pham Thanh Tam. The Vietnamese edition uses design materials and images from the English edition published in 2005. The entire diary of artist Pham Thanh Tam is retyped from a copy of the artist’s diary from 1954. This is the first time the book has been published in Vietnam.
Ms. Vu Thi Quynh Lien - Editor-in-Chief of Kim Dong Publishing House, shared: The diary is a valuable historical document with a unique and emotional way of expressing the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. We believe that the book will help young readers better understand the heroic past of the nation, the courage and endurance of Uncle Ho's soldiers, thereby further appreciating and being grateful for the sacrifices of our ancestors for the independence of the nation.

To help parents, team members, children, grassroots team organizations, teachers and team leaders... have materials to study, research, and organize traditional education activities, Kim Dong Publishing House publishes the book "70 questions and answers about Dien Bien Phu Victory".
