Received 4 million for transporting drugs, man gets 20 years in prison

On May 31, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Cao Dang De (born in 1968, residing in Mau Duc commune, Con Cuong district). Defendant De was prosecuted for "Illegal transportation of narcotics".

According to the indictment, at 3:00 p.m. on November 15, 2017, at Thanh Nam suspension bridge, Tien Thanh village, Chi Khe commune, Con Cuong district, Cao Dang De met a man (name and address unknown). This man hired De to transport 2 packages of heroin and 1 cardboard box containing oranges and 1 heroin cake from Con Cuong district to Do Luong bridge (in Luu Son commune, Do Luong district) to deliver to someone else. The price that the man paid De was 4 million VND.

At around 8:00 a.m. on November 16, 2017, De took the above goods and got in a taxi from his house to Con Cuong town. At around 8:45 a.m. the same day, when he reached National Highway 7, through Bong Khe commune, Con Cuong district, De got out of the car and waited on the side of the road to continue moving to the meeting point. At this time, the police force discovered and caught De red-handed transporting drugs.

At court, defendant Cao Dang De confessed to all his crimes. The panel sentenced him to 20 years in prison for "illegally transporting drugs".
