(Baonghean.vn) - By the afternoon of September 30, in Nam Dan, the rain had stopped and the water had receded but very slowly. Currently, many blocks and hamlets are still deeply submerged in water.

According to statistics, the whole district had 1 house in hamlet 6, Nam Thanh commune collapsed; 14 houses in Nam Thai and Nam Kim communes had their roofs blown off; nearly 200 households in the localities: town, Nam Linh, Nam Giang, Nam Thanh and Trung Phuc Cuong were flooded.
In particular, agricultural damage was quite severe. According to data from the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, 560 hectares of corn were broken and fell; nearly 550 hectares of vegetables were flooded; 15 hectares of peanuts were deeply flooded; 28 hectares of sugarcane and 35 hectares of cassava were flooded and fell; 16 hectares of fruit trees were broken and lost fruit due to heavy rain; 500 poultry died; nearly 1,000 hectares of fish ponds were overflowed and lost.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh The - Head of DepartmentNam Dan district agriculturesaid: “Currently, the district has directed localities to fix and handle the situation as the water recedes. For agricultural production, after the water recedes, people will be instructed to clean barns, disinfect and sterilize livestock to prevent disease; and restock to serve the year-end market. For flooded crop areas, focus on drainage, based on the actual damage situation to have timely recovery plans.”

Currently, in some semi-mountainous areas, due to prolonged heavy rain, the soil from the mountains is "saturated with water", loose, and at high risk of landslides. The volume of landslides is about 500m3; nearly 1,600m of fence collapsed; 69 dams in the area overflowed; Khe Mon and Tam Dong dams in Nam Hung commune were eroded. The district has sent forces to be on duty, handle and take timely rescue measures when the incident occurs.

Beforehuman damage(2 people drowned due to floods) while fishing and catching crickets in recent days, localities in Nam Dan have stepped up propaganda, advising people not to risk their lives by fishing in areas with large, fast-flowing waters to ensure safety.
