(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 21, many people in Vinh city felt unusual tremors. The Institute of Geophysics determined that it was the effect of an earthquake that occurred in Sayabouly province, Laos.

(Baonghean.vn) - At 3:32 p.m. on November 20, many areas of Nghe An province recorded an earthquake. The Institute of Geophysics recorded a magnitude 4.2 earthquake with a focal depth of about 10.0 km in Tan Ky district, Nghe An province.

The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Geophysics said that the earthquake occurred at 6:50:42 am on November 21, 2019 at the coordinates (19.46 degrees North latitude, 101.26 degrees East longitude) in Sayabouly province, Laos. The earthquake had a magnitude of 6.1, with a focal depth of about 38 km.

According to records, at that time, many areas of Nghe An province clearly felt the earthquake's tremors. In high-rise buildings in Vinh city, some people said that tables, cups of water and household items were shaking. Many people also expressed their worries on their personal Facebook when the earthquake occurred.

Previously, at 15:32:54, an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred at the location with coordinates (19.172 degrees North latitude - 105.133 degrees East longitude), with a focal depth of about 10.0 km in Tan Ky district, Nghe An province.

This earthquake caused many districts and towns of Nghe An to shake. Many people were worried and ran out of their houses.

Dr. Nguyen Xuan Anh - Director of the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Geophysics said that the center is still continuing to monitor these earthquakes. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Anh affirmed that this is a normal phenomenon because Nghe An is located in a fault zone that is capable of generating tremors and earthquakes.
