At around noon on February 15, two cars with Long An license plates traveling from Hue to Da Nang stopped at lanes 2 and 3 of the Bac Hai Van toll station (Phu Loc, Thua Thien Hue), but did not buy tickets, causing traffic congestion through the station. The Bac Hai Van station opened the barrier for free for these two cars to avoid congestion, but the drivers did not move, intentionally parked their cars, causing congestion in both lanes.
Immediately after that, 3 masked young men used iron rods to assault the people in the car. Seeing this, 2 drivers drove into the Hai Van tunnel. One car then turned back to the station, hit the barrier in lane 4 and drove onto Highway 1A in the direction of Da Nang - Hue. The remaining car pulled over to the side of the toll fence, blocking the rescue vehicle.
According to the manager of Bac Hai Van toll station, a week ago, the two cars mentioned above, with the logo "Friends on the Road", passed Bac Hai Van station, intentionally stopped at the toll gate, causing trouble, provoking vehicle owners, forcing the station to open the barrier without collecting fees. As for the young men wearing masks who attacked and threatened drivers passing through the station, the unit did not know who they were or where they came from.
