These days, the small neighborhood where Thao lives seems to be more bustling, the neighbors are all happy for Thao. After days of effort and passion, she has achieved worthy results.
Thao is the eldest sister in a family whose parents sell food. Although busy, her parents always consider accompanying and supporting their children on their journey to conquer knowledge.
Thao comes toCivic Educationlike a fate. Everyone said this subject was both dry and "difficult", which made Thao think a lot. By the end of 7th grade, thanks to the "fiery" lessons of teacher Bui Thi Minh Nguyet - the teacher of Civic Education, Thao fell in love with this subject without realizing it.

Thao was extremely impressed with the teacher's lessons, especially when she presented many situations that were close to real life for students to comment on, handle, and choose from. After each situation, the teacher pointed out to the students what was right and what was wrong.

In addition, the teacher also regularly organizes group study for students so that they can research, cooperate, explore and come up with their own results, from which students will gradually become familiar with and easily handle situations encountered in real life.
At home, her parents are very busy running a restaurant, Thao often spends time helping her family and taking care of her younger siblings. She likes to wake up at 4am to read and study. Seeing her determination, Nga (Thao's mother) always wakes up with her to accompany her. Perhaps thanks to that, after many times participating in excellent student competitions at school and district levels, Thao is always at the top.
This year is the first year of applying the 2018 general education program, so both teachers and students are nervous when entering the exam. Entering the exam room, Thao and her friends almost "held their breath". After reading the questions carefully, re-imagining the knowledge they have learned and practiced, Thao began to "get the hang of it".
The Civic Education exam according to the content includes: Moral education; Life skills education; Economic education (consumption activities); Legal education; The exam program is to apply learned knowledge to solve situations/problems of the 8th and 9th grade program; Personal views, attitudes, and understanding of social issues related to the Civic Education program.
Thao was impressed with the social discussion section, including the sentence: Discussing the lifestyle of today's youth, there is an opinion that: "Besides the pure, healthy, idealistic lifestyle, there is still a large number of people pursuing a dishonest, virtual, and pretentious lifestyle..." What do you think about the above opinion? Right on "style", Thao wrote in one go, clearly answering the content of the question and the evidence, making connections very vividly. After completing all 5 questions, Thao still had time to re-read, correct mistakes and confidently submit the paper.

Sharing her joy about the results, Phuong Thao said that after finishing the exam, she immediately ran to the teacher to discuss the content of her work. She commented that her work was quite good, but when she received the results, she was quite surprised with the top position. "I think maybe I was a bit lucky. Receiving the highest result in the whole province, my family, teachers, and friends all burst into happiness" - Phuong Thao said emotionally.
"In addition to improving my knowledge, I always listen to the sharing and suggestions from friends, teachers and seniors to be more confident and improve myself. That is also the way to help me "completely finish" this exam" - Phuong Thao shared.
Sharing about her excellent student, Ms. Bui Thi Minh Nguyet - a Civic Education teacher said: "Thao's knowledge of this subject is very solid, and she has a serious attitude towards studying. Hopefully, the student will always develop her abilities, make more efforts to achieve many high achievements, bringing honor to the school and her hometown."

This year, the Civic Education Team of Nguyen Trai Secondary School has 3 candidates participating in the Provincial Excellent Student Exam for Grade 9 in the 2024-2025 school year. In addition to the valedictorian title of Lai Thi Phuong Thao, 2 other students also achieved high prizes, including 1 First Prize and 1 Second Prize.
Previously, the school's Civic Education team had many years of students winning first prize. To create resources, Ms. Nguyet and other teachers all believe that, in addition to dedication and responsibility for the profession, it is necessary to have teaching methods suitable for all students and especially not to put pressure on students.
Another simple secret is to teach thoroughly, helping students grasp the knowledge in textbooks, legal regulations and after each lesson know how to apply it to life. To approach excellent student competitions, teachers also constantly learn, improve their expertise, build rich sources of questions so that students have many opportunities to rub shoulders, challenge themselves...
Talking about the school's achievements, teacher Nguyen Canh Hung - Principal of Nguyen Trai Secondary School also said: The achievements of Lai Thi Phuong Thao and the excellent student teams are the pride of the school. That will give more motivation for teachers and students of the school to try together and achieve more results in the upcoming exams.
