Village school welcomes 'happy season' at the Provincial Excellent Student Competition
The provincial 12th grade excellent student exam ended with much joy for Bac Yen Thanh High School. This is the only "village" school with students achieving valedictorian status in group A. The school also had 3 first prizes, an achievement that very few schools have achieved.
Vo Van Thanh - valedictorian of the village school
The Physics team of Bac Yen Thanh High School came to the 2024 Provincial Excellent Student Competition for Grade 12 without the accompaniment of teacher Ngo Sy Thang - the direct tutor. During the days of being sick and having to stay in the hospital, what teacher Thang worried about most was not the knowledge but the stable performance of his students.
At the end of the 150-minute test, while other candidates expressed regret and disappointment because some questions were not as expected, student Vo Van Thanh was quite calm.

At that time, although the final results were not yet available, reading the exam questions and listening to Thanh's way of doing things, teacher Ngo Sy Thang believed that this year's exam season would bring "sweet fruit". "This year's provincial excellent student exam questions were given according to the new general education program, more difficult but not too heavy on math. Instead, the exam questions emphasized application, which is Thanh's "advantage". Looking through the exam questions, I believe he will do well" - teacher Thanh shared.
As Vo Van Thanh's Physics teacher for 3 years in high school, teacher Ngo Sy Thang said that Thanh was a "resource" student of the school since grade 10 because he was an excellent student in the province in grade 9.
During the teaching and direct training process, the most impressive thing about Thanh is that he is very eager to learn, loves to explore and has a very "practical" way of learning Physics.
Thanh tried to apply all the theoretical parts in class into practice. There were problems, after finishing studying, he would ask the teacher right away and ask until he understood thoroughly, even at midnight.
When teaching students like this, even though there are questions that make me "have a headache" answering, I still feel very happy.
Teacher Ngo Sy Thang

Before participating in the Provincial Excellent Student Contest, Thanh and other members had to go through a long period of review and screening.
The most intense time to accelerate is 1 month before the exam with a packed study schedule lasting from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. every day.

Through the review process, Mr. Thang and his students all admitted that this year's exam was very stressful. Sharing about this, Mr. Thang added: The team was established in grade 10 but the list was not finalized until the beginning of grade 12. This is also the first year of implementing the exam according to the new program, so studying according to the new exam structure, building exam sources and practicing for the exam are all very urgent.
Before entering this year's exam, we also determined that there would not be familiar exams like previous exam seasons. Instead, the exams are highly applicable, requiring students to understand, grasp the problem and know how to apply theory to practice.
With 18.13 points, surpassing 325 candidates taking the Physics exam in Group A, Vo Van Thanh was the candidate with the highest score, won first prize and was valedictorian in this year's exam.
Although the score was quite far from the candidates with similar scores, Thanh said he felt regretful because he presented a small question C (Exercise 2) incorrectly. He also lost points on the short answer part of the multiple choice test even though it was not a difficult question...

The score of this exam also surpassed Thanh's "record" in previous exams such as school exams and cluster exams. During the process of studying, reviewing for the exam and putting high determination into the excellent student exam, Thanh said: "There is no such thing as luck, to be able to achieve high results, you need to be diligent, hard-working and have the right learning method."
When I was young, despite the difficult circumstances (my father was a farmer, my mother was a cultural officer), I was passionate about Physics and loved to explore and discover. Later, that passion was further fueled by teachers who taught me a lot of new knowledge.
Dedication and responsibility
In addition to the First Prize, the Valedictorian of Physics atProvincial excellent student examThis year, Bac Yen Thanh High School received joy when the school had 2 first prizes and 3 second prizes in Biology.

Among the teams that won high prizes this year, the Biology team achieved a special feat when all 5 students competing won prizes, including 2 first prizes and 3 second prizes. This is also the school's highest achievement in this subject in many years. The students who won prizes in the Biology team are mostly children of farmers and have many difficult circumstances.
Sharing the joy of winning First Prize, Nguyen Thi Quynh - class 12A1 said: When I started studying Biology, many friends told me that this was a difficult subject, with a lot of theory and not suitable for female students. But I was lucky to meet a dedicated teacher who had a very good way of teaching. From his lessons, we felt excited and loved Biology.
After more than 25 years standing on the podium at Bac Yen Thanh High School, teacher Phan Duc Hanh - a Biology tutor - said that this is the happiest exam season for him because all the students participating in the exam won prizes and high prizes.
When being chosen as a teacher to train the team, each teacher feels very proud, but along with that comes pressure and responsibility to the students.
If students do not achieve high results, it means the teacher has not fulfilled his duty...
Teacher Phan Duc Hanh

To have successful exam seasons, according to Mr. Hanh, the first important thing is to choose a team, in which the most important thing is to have students with "motivation".
"If we talk about resources, our school is not favorable because the students are in a difficult area, far from the center. But the students have a desire to excel in their studies, because this is the shortest path for them to succeed in the future. Through the process of accompanying students, teachers must also be serious, dedicated to their profession, know how to sacrifice for their students and constantly study and improve their expertise and skills" - teacher Phan Duc Hanh shared.
With the success of this year's exam, Bac Yen Thanh High School has also continued a school year with many outstanding achievements.
Teacher Nguyen Ba Thuy - Principal of the school said: Despite many difficulties, our school always creates conditions for teachers and students to develop their abilities. Besides, the school always has policies to encourage and reward promptly so that teachers and students have the motivation to try harder.
The achievements are the result of tireless efforts and will help the school gain confidence to continue to successfully complete the assigned tasks of the school year, competing to teach well and study well.
