Mr. Ho Xuan Hung: Tourists eat eel porridge but do not know which is Nghe An specialty eel porridge.
(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Ho Xuan Hung said that Nghe An eel porridge is delicious but many provinces also have it. Vinh eel porridge, although famous, still has no brand to identify it, so tourists can eat it but cannot distinguish it.
Speaking at the scientific workshop "Developing specialties and traditional products of Nghe An into commodities", former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ho Xuan Hung said that in order for products to "survive" in the market, Nghe An needs to design a brand identity.
No need to restore products such as: potato chips, cakes
Speaking at the workshop held in Nghia Dan district, the former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development agreed with Nghe An announcing 14 provincial specialties and selecting 35 typical products for tourism. According to Mr. Ho Xuan Hung, this activity will help consumers (tourists) orient their choices when coming to Nghe An.

"Reviewing the list of 14 specialty products of the province that have been announced, I see that there are indeed products that, although they are specialties, are difficult to restore (and also not necessary to restore), especially when aiming for economic development, for example: sweet potato, sweet cake, but should add some products from the list of typical products serving tourism such as: fish sauce, Nghe An mackerel, Anh Son tea, yeast wine, etc. There should not be too many, but about 15-20 products is reasonable" - former Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Ho Xuan Hung emphasized.

Mr. Hung also said that currently in Nghe An, the number of trademarks that have been built and registered for protection is too small compared to the total number of goods. Many people know the brand "Vinh eel porridge" but this dish is not only available in Nghe An but also in many provinces and cities across the country. Meanwhile, according to the former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vinh eel porridge, although famous, still does not have an identifying trademark.

Priority policies are needed for specialty products with competitive advantages.
"In order for the province's specialty products to "survive" in the market, in my opinion, the province should prioritize specialties with competitive advantages, many years of reputation, and good development potential for investment. In the immediate future, it is necessary to build brands and focus on promoting products. In the promotion program, the first thing is to build trust and create consumer interest for the people in the province and Nghe An children in all regions of the country and internationally" - Mr. Ho Xuan Hung proposed a solution.
In addition, the province also needs to issue policies to directly support specialty products in the direction of clean production, processing and preservation, with high technology applications. Encourage businesses and households to invest in the value chain of the province's specialty products. Link production with shopping tourism.
"The province needs to develop and promulgate a set of criteria for the province's specialty products. From there, determine the product level and choose the priority direction for support from brand building, trademark protection and product promotion as well as focusing on product quality," Mr. Ho Xuan Hung added.
