Because of its glow and black skin that helps it hide well under the sea, the new shark species is also known as the Ninja lantern shark. Researchers say they can grow up to half a meter long. This is the first time they have discovered Ninja lantern sharks in the sea stretching from Nicaragua to Panama.
This interesting discovery belongs to a group of scientists studying marine life at the Pacific Shark Research Center in California (USA).
They caught eight Ninja lantern sharks at depths ranging from 800 to more than 1,400 meters. They emit a dim light in the deep ocean thanks to light-emitting organs hidden under their skin.
