(Baonghean.vn) - As Tet approaches, Do Luong district (Nghe An) is flooded with products for the Lunar New Year. To ensure food safety and hygiene, the district has increased inspections and strictly handled violations of food safety and hygiene.

To prevent some profit-seeking traders from producing ham and sausages that do not meet quality standards, the district's food safety inspection team directly inspected ham production facilities in the district, taking samples for rapid testing of borax index from 5 pork ham samples, 6 vermicelli samples, and 10 beef ham samples. The test results were negative for borax.

Also on this occasion, the district's interdisciplinary team inspected 20 businesses selling Tet food items. During the inspection, 6 establishments were administratively sanctioned, with a total fine of 6 million VND. The team destroyed food products that did not meet food safety standards, mainly confectionery products, worth 9 million VND.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga - Deputy Head of Food Safety Department, Do Luong District Medical Center said: "In addition to establishing an interdisciplinary team to conduct inspections, the Center for Preventive Medicine has sent staff to communes and towns to coordinate inspections at the facility. The inspections are carried out seriously and in accordance with the provisions of the law."

By January 17, the entire district had 26 communes that had inspected 405 establishments, of which 46 establishments were found to be in violation. Administrative fines were imposed on 5 establishments and 25 types of confectionery products of unknown origin, worth 28 million VND, were destroyed.
