Standing Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu works with the German Association of Small and Medium Enterprises in Berlin

On the afternoon of May 22, in Berlin, Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Nghe An province had a working session with the German Association of Small and Medium Enterprises.

Attending the meeting were comrade Phan Duc Dong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vinh City People's Council; comrades of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Thi Hong Hoa - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; Tran Thi My Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Hoang Quoc Viet - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment.

Also participating in the working delegation were comrades: Tran Khanh Thuc - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs; Bui Duy Son - Chief of Office of the National Assembly Delegation and Provincial People's Council; Vo Minh The - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, there was comrade Dang Hoang Linh - Political Counselor.

Next, working with the delegation was Mr. Reinhold von Ungern-Sternberg - Director of International Markets, German Association of Small and Medium Enterprises and members.

At the working session with the German Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu gave an overview of the geostrategic location, potential, strengths and outstanding results of Nghe An province in socio-economic development in recent times.

In 2024, Nghe An's export turnover to the German market will reach more than 54 million USD, mainly steel, textiles, and processed fruit products.

In the opposite direction, the province imported more than 6.8 million USD worth of machinery, equipment, spare parts, production materials and animal feed from Germany. In addition, there are currently 109 Nghe An workers working at medical facilities in Germany in the field of nursing.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee highly appreciated the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in the German economic ecosystem, a dynamic and sustainable development model with many similarities with Nghe An's economic development orientation.

He expressed his hope that through the meeting, the Association would become an important bridge for German businesses to pay attention to and explore investment and cooperation opportunities in Nghe An, a locality that is changing rapidly, especially in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).

Nghe An province commits to always accompany and create favorable conditions for German enterprises to invest successfully, sustainably and long-term in Nghe An.

On behalf of the German Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, Mr. Reinhold von Ungern-Sternberg - Director of International Markets expressed his pleasure to welcome the delegation from Nghe An province and highly appreciated the strategic vision in the local development policy.

He affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of the Association and believes in the prospect of practical and long-term cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, vocational training, technology transfer and development of high-quality human resources.

At the meeting, Nghe An Department of Foreign Affairs and the German Association of Small and Medium Enterprises signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a connection framework between businesses of the two sides.

The Memorandum lays the foundation for regular information exchange on trade, investment and economy, market and start-up policies, investment, business and expert connections of each side; supports the exchange of business delegations, investment promotion delegations, and expert visits to explore and identify business opportunities.

The Director of the International Market of the German Association of Small and Medium Enterprises said that with more than 300 offices in Germany and more than 80 representative offices abroad, the Association is currently the largest connecting organization of small and medium enterprises in Germany, operating independently, non-politically, multi-industry, with the capacity to effectively support trade and investment promotion.

"The Association is ready to act as a focal point to introduce businesses interested in coming to Nghe An to learn and survey and promote specific cooperation programs in the coming time," said Mr. Reinhold von Ungern-Sternberg.

The two sides agreed to continue to maintain in-depth exchanges on the investment environment, specific cooperation opportunities and actual conditions of the business community, in order to build a strategic and sustainable partnership that brings practical benefits to both sides.

Within the framework of the 2025 foreign affairs program, towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany (September 23, 1975 - September 23, 2025), the delegation of Nghe An province led by comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council is visiting and working in the Federal Republic of Germany from May 21 to 25.

The working trip of the high-ranking delegation of Nghe An province to Germany is an activity of special significance, demonstrating the locality’s proactiveness and positivity in promoting economic diplomacy and expanding the space for international cooperation. Thereby, contributing to strengthening the friendship, political trust and socio-economic development between Nghe An and its partners in the Federal Republic of Germany.
