(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 29, the Con Cuong District Party Committee held the official opening session of the 27th District Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025. This is the second grassroots unit to hold a model congress among the four congresses of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee.

Opening his speech at the congress, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Thong emphasized that Con Cuong is the historical land of "Tra Lan bamboo split ash flying" mentioned by Nguyen Trai's Proclamation of Victory; a land famous for "Muong Qua rice, Giang River fish".

This is the second unit of the province to organize a district-level Party Congress and is one of four units selected by the Provincial Party Standing Committee as a model congress.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee highly appreciated the efforts of the Party Committee and people of all ethnic groups in Con Cuong district in promoting the tradition of solidarity, dynamism, creativity, determination to innovate, and efforts to overcome all difficulties and challenges to achieve many important and comprehensive achievements, creating a higher position and strength for the new period.

In addition to the achievements, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also frankly pointed out a number of shortcomings and limitations, requesting the congress to discuss, analyze, deeply evaluate, clarify the causes, draw lessons and from there propose effective solutions to overcome them in the new term.

That is, the economic development in Con Cuong district is still slow and unsustainable; the economic restructuring is not strong; the movement to build new rural areas is still limited; the progress of the Con Cuong district construction planning project towards ecological urban development is still slow.

Along with that, there are some traditional and historical values ​​that have not been exploited and promoted as a comparative advantage. The poverty rate is still high; the lives of ethnic minorities in remote, isolated and border areas are facing many difficulties.
