From early morning on the 30th of Tet, at Dien Chau town market (Dien Chau district), many people gathered to prepare chicken offerings for New Year's Eve. The last day of the year is also the time when this service becomes the most popular.
Ms. Bui Thi Hoa, block 4, Dien Chau town shared: "Since the 25th of Tet, the number of customers making chicken has increased, and as the 30th approaches, there is no time to rest. Like this morning (30th of Tet), my husband and I had to wake up at 3am to prepare and make for customers because some families had early offerings..."
Ms. Hoa said that on normal days, her shop makes about 30 chickens/day, but during Tet, the number of chickens increases 3-4 times. Many families who need to make a large number of chickens have to order in advance.
According to the owners of the chicken offering shops, if you want a beautiful and good chicken offering, choosing the chicken is very important. The chickens chosen must weigh 2 kg or more, have a beautiful crest, and firm meat, so that creating the shape of the chicken offering will be easier and more beautiful.

According to a survey, the price of chicken offerings in Dien Chau has doubled compared to normal days, from 10,000 VND/chicken to 20,000 - 25,000 VND/chicken. Although the price has increased, everyone is happy to accept it because it saves time to prepare for Tet.
Ms. Le Thi Hoai, Dien Thanh commune, Dien Chau confided: The family only knows how to prepare chicken for meat but not chicken for offerings, because offering chicken requires skill and knowledge in creating a beautiful chicken shape to offer to ancestors. The price increase is not a cause for concern because it is normal for services to increase in price during Tet.
In Yen Thanh district, the service points making chicken offerings could not meet the demand of customers. By the morning of the 30th of Tet, they could not take any more orders because they could not make enough.
Mr. Quang Thuy and his wife, who provide services of slaughtering chickens for Tet offerings in Lien Thanh commune (Yen Thanh), shared: Since the 28th of Tet, the number of customers ordering chickens for offerings has been fully booked. By early morning on the 30th of Tet, they could not take on any more orders because there were too many, even though the couple had mobilized more staff to help, even working all night. "Because customers ordered too many, the couple had to make chickens for offerings from the 29th of Tet. These chickens had to be kept in the freezer for customers," said Mr. Quang.

Mr. Quang said that on normal days, the price for making a chicken offering is 15,000 VND/chicken, but on Tet holiday, it is 20,000 VND/chicken. Most of the chickens for the offering are brought by customers, because every family wants to choose their own chicken. According to customer orders, he arranges to prepare chickens first for families who make offerings early.
Because it is a popular service, chicken-making establishments have a significant source of income during this time. On average, making about 100 chickens can bring in 2-3 million VND/day. Not to mention that households that make chicken offerings also sell chickens, so the increase in revenue is understandable.
