In his opening speech, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Population and Family Planning Pham Vu Hoang affirmed the role of statistics in life. Particularly for the population sector, population census is of great significance to the formulation of government policies.
In carrying out statistical work, for many years now, the viewpoint of the Population sector has been that there is no excess, no shortage, no duplication. Every year, the sector maintains a system of periodic specialized statistical reports. The sector has also succeeded in computerizing specialized data warehouses for storing, processing, and reporting electronic statistics online. Through evaluation, this system has provided information and data with positive significance in the population inspection sector and serving the tasks of the State.

To improve the effectiveness of statistical work, there have been many normative documents guiding implementation, the most recent being Circular 01/2022/TT-BYT "Regulations on initial recording and reporting regime of specialized statistics on Population". The development of this circular has been implemented for nearly 2 years and this is a legal document on the statistical reporting regime, regulating initial recording of population, content of specialized statistical reports on Population, dissemination of information, data and application of information technology, management of the industry's data warehouse.
The Deputy Director General of the General Department of Population and Family Planning also said that the development of the circular was carried out according to 4 principles, in accordance with the system of national and health indicators, covering the objectives of Resolution 21 on population work in the new situation and Vietnam's population strategy to 2030 and project indicators, inheriting the achieved results and enhancing the application of information through maintaining IT data and trends.digital transformation direction

To effectively implement Circular 01, the leaders of the General Department of Population and Family Planning requested that the delegates attending seriously study, increase the exchange and sharing of statistical work between localities, and focus on discussing difficulties and recommendations at the grassroots level.
On the part of the leaders of the Population and Family Planning Departments, it is necessary to clearly understand the concepts and contents of the instructions, and supplement new contents that clearly define the responsibilities of individuals participating in the implementation.

In addition, in order to improve the quality of specialized population data information, delegates in the statistical reporting process must be strict, scientific, clearly see the role of each individual and related unit, update information and disseminate information. At the same time, closely coordinate with statistical agencies at the same level to unify accurate and effective data.
