Quynh Luu (Nghe An) has the 5th outbreak of bird flu.

Information from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine said that poultry samples in Quynh Ngoc commune (Quynh Luu) tested positive for H5N6 avian influenza. It is worth mentioning that Quynh Ngoc commune is adjacent to Quynh Ba commune - where the previous outbreak occurred, so the risk of the disease spreading is very high.

Previously, at the family of Mrs. Tran Thi Khuyen in Thuan Yen hamlet, Quynh Ngoc commune, the poultry flock showed signs of lethargy, wheezing, and pale skin... the owner reported to the local authorities. The Quynh Luu District Veterinary Department stepped in, took samples, and isolated and contained the epidemic; vaccinated, sprayed disinfectants, and disinfected the epidemic area...

Mr. Tran Vinh Tra - Chairman of Quynh Ngoc Commune People's Committee said: As soon as the results of H5N6 avian influenza were positive on the afternoon of February 19, we set up a team to destroy 37 chickens and ducks of the family, and at the same time disinfect the epidemic area and surrounding areas. The current concern is that the whole commune has nearly 7,000 poultry of all kinds, however, they are mainly raised on a small scale (only 4 farms), so it is difficult to control the spread of the epidemic.

Thus, up to now, all 5 outbreaks of H5N6 avian influenza in the province have appeared in Quynh Luu district including: Quynh Hong, Quynh Ba, Quynh Hau, Quynh Hung, Quynh Ngoc. The whole district was forced to destroy 501 poultry and waterfowl of all kinds.

Quynh Luu district is currently focusing on directing people to urgently apply epidemic prevention measures such as: not trading or transporting poultry in epidemic areas in and out of the area; cleaning barns and using lime powder to spread around the breeding area to prevent avian influenza outbreaks.
