(Baonghean.vn) -On November 21, at Thai Hoa Town, Nghe An TATE&LYTE Sugarcane Company Limited held a conference to summarize the 2011-2012 sugarcane crop.

In the 2011-2012 crop year, the total area of ​​raw sugarcane in the 7 districts and towns: Nghia Dan, Quy Hop, Quy Chau, Que Phong, Tan Ky, Thai Hoa town was 15,372 hectares, an increase of 1,770 hectares compared to the previous crop year, the average yield reached 53 tons/hectare, the output of raw sugarcane reached 605,150 tons, an increase of 177,787 tons compared to the 2010-2011 crop year.

According to the Company's assessment, the 2011-2012 crop year was a good one (average yield increased by 6 tons/ha compared to the previous crop year). However, in the last crop year, there were still 4,615 hectares affected by grass shoot disease, 11,436 hectares affected by sugarcane aphids, which significantly affected productivity in many areas.

At the Conference, the Company set out a plan for the 2012-2013 crop year: planting an additional 6,000 hectares of raw sugarcane; having support policies and providing loans to farmers; conducting experimental applications of cultivation machines: sugarcane planting machines, weeding machines, and ridge cultivators; importing and testing disease-free and high-yielding sugarcane varieties from China and Thailand.

Company leaders awarded certificates of merit and rewards to 12 outstanding farmers.

On this occasion, the Company awarded certificates of merit and prizes to 6 production group leaders and 12 outstanding farmers in the 2011-2012 crop year.
