Department of Education and Training supports teachers and schools damaged by floods in Thanh Chuong and Ky Son districts
(Baonghean.vn) - In recent days, heavy rains and flash floods have flooded and damaged many schools and teachers' houses in many localities in Nghe An province. In this situation, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training have promptly supported teachers and students of schools that suffered great damage due to floods.
On the afternoon of October 2, the Department of Education and Training inspected the flood recovery work at a number of schools in Thanh Chuong district. In the recent flood, the district had 6 kindergartens and primary schools deeply flooded, including: Nho Hoa kindergarten, Thanh Ha kindergarten, Thanh Khai kindergarten, Thanh Ngoc primary school, Thanh Ha primary school and Vo Liet primary school.

The entire district had many classrooms damaged, roofs blown off, and fences collapsed, with an estimated total loss of 1 billion VND. In addition to the damage to the school, many houses of teachers and students were also flooded, with one teacher’s house completely burned down on October 1.
Present at Thanh Ngoc Primary School, Thanh Khai Kindergarten and Secondary School, Mr. Thai Van Thanh - Director of the Department of Education and Training shared the difficulties of the schools; at the same time, requested that the schools take advantage of the sunny weather to clean the classrooms and stabilize the facilities so that students can go to school normally.

Here, the Department of Education and Training supported Thanh Khai Kindergarten and Secondary School with 10 million VND each; and supported Thanh Ngoc Primary School with 10 computers to replace the number of computers damaged by flood water.

Initial statistics show that 21 teachers' houses in the area collapsed, were completely or partially swept away by the flood, with total damage amounting to billions of dong. Dozens of students from the High SchoolKy SonThe children who were staying near the town area were also swept away by the flood and all their belongings were swept away. The school has now taken them back to the dormitory.

Faced with this difficult situation,Department of Education and TrainingIn the immediate future, each teacher whose house was damaged was supported with 5 million VND; each student whose house was damaged by the flood was supported with 1 million VND so that they could buy new books.
Previously, according to initial statistics from the Department of Education and Training, during the recent flood, the entire education sector had 66 schools flooded and 437 schools had to let students stay home from school.

Many schools in the area were damaged, nearly 1,000 meters of fence collapsed, 354 equipment cabinets were damaged, about 600 teaching equipment were washed away or damaged by water, nearly 1,300 sets of tables and chairs, 1,800 documents and textbooks were no longer usable. In addition, 23 classrooms had their roofs blown off, 25 computers were broken. The total estimated damage to the whole industry was nearly 4 billion VND.
