(Baonghean.vn) - The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced the sample exam questions for grade 12 for the 2023 High School Graduation Exam. This is the basis for schools to organize review sessions for students close to the curriculum and exam orientation of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Teachers are still "confused" about the sample exam

Compared to previous years, this year the Ministry of Education and Training announced the sample test questions for all subjects of the high school graduation exam earlier. This makes it easier for teachers and students in their review programs. Many teachers also said that this year's test questions are mainly in the 12th grade program, there are no questions outside the program and will help reduce pressure on students.

However, through sharing, many teachers hope that, in addition to basic knowledge, the exam needs to be differentiated to classify candidates and serve as a basis for admission to universities and vocational education.

After many years of teaching Math at Que Phong High School, teacher Nguyen Van Khai said: "The Math illustration test basically remains stable in terms of differentiation. However, compared to my assessment, the level is more difficult, especially in the application and high application sections with higher differentiation for good and excellent students. With this test, I am also quite worried about the students in the mountainous areas and in our school. With the level of recognition and understanding, the ability of students to get a score of 7 is quite easy. But for students in the mountainous areas, to get this part is not a small problem and requires students to be diligent, teachers to review regularly and students to practice many times".

Regarding Biology, teacher Tran Van Lai - a teacher at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, said that the basic questions were the same as every year and the genealogy questions were easier. The exercises no longer had complex, non-biological calculations, but instead required more thinking. The questions included questions that developed the ability to analyze data tables and read graphs.

However, teacher Tran Van Lai still has concerns because there are some problems such as some questions are not true to reality, there is no specific source of any species, still general like animal breeds A, B, C, D (question 111), in 1 plant species (question 113). With these questions, teacher Lai also thinks that if there are specific research results, the exam will be more interesting.

Or, there are questions like question 113 that have difficult to understand statements such as "populations do not evolve", "populations from random mating to self-mating". The ideas in the question that have the words "only" or "always" are all wrong, this is very taboo when making multiple choice questions, students do not need to understand, just look at these words to choose wrong.

Race against the exams

To prepare for this important exam, Ngoc Anh is preparing for 4 different options, which are preparing for the high school graduation exam, the competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University of Education, the competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University and the last option is to try to have a good academic record for admission along with a Foreign Language certificate.

Talking about this, Ngoc Anh said: I plan to take the entrance exam to the English Pedagogy Faculty of Hanoi National University of Education and am required to take the school's own capacity assessment exam. This is the second year the school has organized this exam, so there are not many reference materials and I have to find the materials myself online. Currently, I have to buy a package with my classmates according to the capacity assessment exam of Hanoi National University. In addition, I study and review by myself the two capacity assessment subjects, Literature and English, according to the high school graduation exam. This year, the high school graduation exam is expected to be held at the end of June, but before that, in April I have to go to Hanoi to take the exam of Hanoi National University, in May I continue to go to the University of Education to take the second exam...

Having multiple exam options and multiple exams at the same time, while seemingly convenient, actually creates more pressure and expense for candidates. This is even more disadvantageous for students in remote areas and areas with difficult economic conditions. At Nguyen Sy Sach High School, teacher Ngo Sy Hoang - Vice Principal of the school also added: StudentsGrade 12Nowadays, students are under a lot of pressure in terms of time and knowledge. They have to take many exams at the same time. In our school, due to difficult economic conditions, only 45/405 students currently take the competency assessment exam. The rest are using the popular form of using the graduation exam results.

Through consulting the admission plans of universities, we see that the trend of admission through competency assessment is increasing. Therefore, the school has directed professional groups to study the exam structure and have appropriate teaching and learning plans. On the students' side, they also have to change their learning methods, instead of just reviewing by block, they have to study all subjects equally.

Que Phong High School is currently accelerating the review process for 12th graders, especially after the Ministry of Education and Training announced the sample exam questions. Unlike many other schools in the province, according to current statistics, the school does not have any students participating in the Competency Assessment Exam. Instead, students are focusing on the High School Graduation Exam and have completed 2 mock exams on the LMS system organized by the Department of Education and Training.

Teacher Nguyen Van Khai - a Math teacher said: With a low starting point and uneven quality of students, I was really worried after the students took the Math test conducted by the Department according to the matrix of previous exams. However, according to the assessment of the teachers in charge of Math, the results were not high, many students still did the test carelessly, not up to their ability, and the number of students with high scores was not much.

Therefore, from now until the graduation exam takes place, we will continue to differentiate the subjects, teach them basic knowledge, test-taking skills and practice more homework so that students can get familiar with the types of questions.


This school year, Que Phong High School has more than 400 12th graders and only nearly 30 students choose the Natural Science subject group, the rest choose the Social Science subject group and the number of students registering for the exam just for graduation is quite large. With the characteristics of most of the school's students being far from their families and staying in concentrated accommodation, the conditions for studying and reviewing are very difficult and many students are negligent.

From this reality, teacher Nguyen Tien Trung - Vice Principal of the school said: After the results of the mock test, we asked the professional team and subject teachers to review, evaluate and classify each student; on that basis, there will be a suitable review plan. At the same time, the school will assign teachers to tutor, train and teach students for free in the afternoon. When the acceleration period is over, the school can open at night so that students who are staying nearby can come and focus on reviewing and teachers can provide additional support for them outside of class hours.

To support the candidates, from now until the official exam takes place, the Department of Education and Training will continue to organize mock exams for students on the LMS system so that students can test and evaluate their own abilities. Schools and some school clusters will also organize mock exams in the near future to help students have the opportunity to practice and get familiar with the exam, and this will also be the basis for them to adjust their studies and career orientation in accordance with their abilities and qualifications.
