Giving gifts of "Warm Tet in the border" to people and students of Huu Khuong commune (Tuong Duong)
(Baonghean.vn) -On February 4-5, the Provincial Military Command and the Military Youth Union organized a visit and gave gifts to the people and students of Huu Khuong commune (Tuong Duong) on the occasion of the traditional Tet Quy Ty 2013.
Attending the working delegation were leaders of the Provincial Military Command, the Mass Mobilization Committee, the Youth Committee (Provincial Military Command), leaders of the Mass Mobilization Committee of the District Party Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tuong Duong District. Lieutenant Colonel Phan Van Sy, - Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Provincial Military Command led the delegation.

Huu Khuong Commune (Tuong Duong) is one of the poorest communes in the district, located in the Ban Ve hydroelectric reservoir area. From Thuong Luu wharf, it takes 2 hours by motorboat to reach Con Phen village (the central village of the commune). Huu Khuong has 8 villages, including 4 Kho Mu villages, 2 Thai villages and 1 Mong village. Currently, the commune has 4 "no" points, no roads, no electricity, no markets and no mobile phone signal. The whole commune has 554 households, 2,242 people, the economy mainly relies on small-scale farming and livestock. The number of poor households accounts for nearly 94%. Regarding education, the commune has 3 schools from kindergarten to junior high school with 517 students. Although teaching and learning conditions have received much attention, they are still very difficult.
Students of Huu Khuong Ethnic Boarding Secondary School helped the delegation transfer gifts to the gathering place at the Commune People's Committee.
This time, the Delegation presented gifts from the Provincial Military Command to Huu Khuong commune and 28 gifts (each worth 500,000 VND), including 20 gifts from the Provincial Military Command and 8 gifts from the Military Youth Committee (Ministry of National Defense). 23 gifts were given to students in difficult circumstances, poor students with good academic performance and 5 gifts to families with preferential policies. In addition, the Delegation also presented 1,200 sets of clothes launched by the Military Youth Committee in coordination with the Central Youth Union Secretariat in the "Warm Tet at the Border" program, contributed by the youth and students of the capital (1 part for Huu Khuong students, 1 part for Tam Hop students).
The gift-giving program on the occasion of Lunar New Year is one of the activities in the program "Save for yourself, save for the needy" of the officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command to share some of the difficulties of people in remote areas every time Tet comes and Spring comes.
The Party Committee and People's Committee of Huu Khuong commune received Tet gifts from officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command.
Lieutenant Colonel Phan Van Sy - Deputy Chief of Politics (Provincial Military Command) presented gifts to students of kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools in Huu Khuong commune.
Captain Tran Van Thanh, Youth Assistant of the Provincial Military Command, presented gifts from the Military Youth Committee to policy families.
Warm coats in the program "Warm Tet in the Border" were kindly put on the students of Huu Khuong kindergarten by the Working Group.
Speaking at the awarding ceremony, on behalf of the gift recipients, Lo Van Xay, a 9B grade student (Huu Khuong Ethnic Boarding School) was moved to express his gratitude to the golden hearts of the uncles and brothers at the Provincial Military Command for their contributions to the poor students of Huu Khuong and promised to study hard to contribute to building his commune out of poverty and backwardness. Lieutenant Colonel Phan Van Sy - Deputy Chief of Political Affairs (Provincial Military Command) said: Although these are not valuable gifts, they are the hearts of the officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command sharing with the people in remote areas. He also wished the people and students of Huu Khuong commune a joyful, healthy and exciting Tet.
