Fishing boat caught fire, 10 crew members drifted at sea for 26 hours

Today (February 13, 2023), 10 crew members will be brought back to the mainland after receiving first aid after drifting at sea for about 26 hours due to a fishing boat fire.

Previously, at around 00:00 on February 11, 2023, the fishing boat of Mr. Ho Van Hoang (born in 1987) residing in village 4, Quynh Nghia commune, Quynh Luu district was fishing offshore. Suddenly, a fire broke out on the boat, the fire started in the engine compartment and quickly spread throughout the hull.

There were 10 people on board at the time. Because the ship was far out at sea, the fire was large and there was no timely rescue force so the fire could not be controlled.

The crew members working on the ship quickly arranged rafts and planks, left the ship and drifted at sea for about 26 hours. When they saw a fishing boat of Son Hai commune (Quynh Luu district) fishing nearby, the crew members quickly sent a signal and approached the ship.
