Hoang Mai Town begins 'campaign' to eliminate 126 temporary and dilapidated houses for the poor
(Baonghean.vn) - Responding to the campaign to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for the poor, up to now, organizations and individuals throughout the town and Hoang Mai people living far from home have registered to donate more than 5.12 billion VND to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households.
On the morning of June 4, in Quynh Vinh commune, the groundbreaking ceremony for building houses for 2 poor households under the program took place.Launching a campaign to support the elimination of dilapidated and makeshift houses for poor and near-poor households in Hoang Mai town, Nghe An.

The two households that started building their houses are Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lan, Village 15 and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Duyen, Village 14, Quynh Vinh Commune. Mrs. Lan is a disabled single mother and Mrs. Duyen lives alone. Both women live in cramped, makeshift houses built on relatives’ land.
Sharing the situation of the two women, Hoang Mai town supported 50 million VND from the Fund in the campaign to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the town. In addition, benefactors, relatives and people in the hamlet and Quynh Vinh commune also supported with clams, cement, sand, foundation digging machines and labor days.
It is expected that the house will be put into use in 2-3 months, contributing to stabilizing the lives of Ms. Lan and Ms. Duyen.

Currently, the poverty rate of Hoang Mai town is 2.5%, the near-poor rate is 4.27%. The whole town still has 126 poor and near-poor households living in temporary, dilapidated houses.
Responding to the campaign to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for the poor, up to now, organizations and individuals throughout the town and Hoang Mai people living far from home have registered to donate more than 5.12 billion VND to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households.
The campaign is still ongoing and increasingly expanding to reach the goal of raising 6.5 billion VND to build houses for the poor by the end of 2019.
